El Dorado pitcher signs with Western Texas College PDF Print E-mail

EDHS pitcher Hector Arellano signs with Western Texas College El Dorado High School pitcher Hector Arellano heads into the 2009 season knowing where he will be playing next year.  The senior signed his letter of intent to play at Western Texas College before friends and family in the school’s library on January 29, 2009.  Hector has been at El Dorado since the school opened in 2003 when he was a 7th grader.  He currently holds the all-time records in pitching for most wins in a season, season strikeout leader, career wins leader and career strikeouts leader.  He was also named to the 1-5A All District team as a pitcher.

“I’m excited but also sad to be going away from parents and sister,” said Arellano following the signing ceremony at El Dorado. “But it’s a beautiful campus with a great atmosphere.  I felt very comfortable with the coaches and a lot of their players have advanced.”

Arellano, who is the fourth El Dorado player to sign a letter of intent, plans on studying education.

“He has been with the Aztec Baseball program since we opened the doors in 2003. As a coach, it’s fulfilling to see him grow from a boy into a young man.  We got to be part of his life and see him mature into something special.  Now, it’s someone else’s turn to make something more of him,” said El Dorado Varsity Baseball Head Coach John Beard who also thanked Arellano’s parents Hector and Mandy Arellano for their support.

Western Texas College is a part of the Western Junior College Athletic Conference and the National Junior College Athletic Association.  The College is located in Snyder, Texas.
