With the announcement of new head football coach Patrick Melton, the team will start working on rebuilding its program for the upcoming season. Melton, who will also be the athletic coordinator for the school, was the defensive coordinator at Pasadena High School a Class 5A school in Pasadena, Texas. He has nine years experience as a high school coach and spent seven years as the Varsity Track Coach. Melton has a Bachelor’s Degree in Kinesiology from Angelo State University. He also played for the Austin Rattlers, a semi-professional football team. The new coach was introduced to players and the school during a press conference held at the Americas High School rotunda Monday afternoon.
“I am proud to be part of the Americas football family. I am going to be meeting with the players and evaluating them, see where we need to go and work on establishing a tradition of excellence,” said Melton during the March 9 press conference. The Blazers were 1-9 last year and have won just three district games the past two seasons. .jpg) |
