Elementary Gifted & Talented Program
Definition: Gifted and talented refers to a child or youth who performs or shows the potential for performing at a remarkably high level of accomplishment when compared to others of the same age, experience, or environment and who:

Exhibit high performance capability in an intellectual, creative or artistic area;

Possess anunusual capacity for leadership;

Excel in a specific academic field.
Students who are identified as Gifted and Talented are served by a G.T. Certified teacher. At the elementary level the program is designed so that students are served in the regular classroom on a daily basis and students are pulled outdaily so that the students are brought together to work collaboratively on a variety of projects. Careful planning and differentiated instruction techniques are used to insure students are being challenged and that their learning needs are being met.
Identification Process:
*Nomination โ Parent or Teacher
*Screening โ Surveys from parents
and teachers + four additional
assessments are given to students
who have been nominated for the
G.T. program.
*Placement-Once a student is placed in the G.T. program, service is on a continual basis, unless a parent requests a furlough or exit.
