ABOUT OUR DEPARTMENT

The goal of the Socorro Independent School District Police Services Department is to create and maintain a safe learning environment for students and a safe working environment for staff and visitors.

The Socorro Independent School District Department of Police Services is comprised of three divisions: The Security Division, The Police Department and The Attendance Division.

SECURITY DIVISION

The Security Division is committed to serve the needs of the students and the community of the Socorro Independent School District. The Department currently fosters community relations with parents and students alike through continued vehicle patrols and field contacts during extracurricular activities such as athletic events and during non traditional hours. The Department strives to meet its goal by enforcing the student code of conduct and all the district policies to maintain the safe environment.

ATTENDANCE DIVISION

The Attendance Division primary function is to enforce state and local truancy laws and the student code of conduct. The Department is currently staffed by nine full time officers who are readily available to the parents to assist with any truancy questions or concerns.

POLICE DEPARTMENT

The mission of the Police Department is to provide policing services to the district with integrity and dedication to achieve the goal of providing a safe environment. The department strives to achieve this goal by enforcing state and local laws and providing community programs such as the National Night Out, Great Program aimed at gang resistance in the middle school atmosphere.
