Five Socorro ISD schools receive state award

 | The Texas School Counseling Association awards five Socorro Independent School District campuses its CREST award. The CREST award, which stands for Counselors Reinforcing Excellence for Students in Texas, recognizes outstanding school counseling programs throughout the state. The CREST program gives school counseling programs an opportunity to demonstrate effective communication and a commitment to getting results. |
The following five Socorro ISD schools and counseling teams were: - Americas High School: Rowena Garcia, Cristina Rodriguez, Sylvia Cox, Nick Carey, Claudia Butler, Sandra Mendoza, Josie Porras
- El Dorado High School: Marshall Ponce, Alicia O’Quinn, Mary Golden, Dianna Lujan-Enriquez, Sylvia Gonzalez, Sandra Flores
- Socorro High School: Sonia Ugarte-Gil, Lucy Caballero, Mary Parazo, Ralph Farmer, Sylvia Marti, Gil Gallegos, Martin Sanchez
- Ernesto Serna- Tami Mackeban, Norma Guerra
- Paso del Norte- Kathy Powell-Jewell, Terri Azcarate, Lori Montoya
This is the second year for El Dorado High School and Socorro High School. This will be the first year for Americas HS, Ernesto Serna k-8, and Paso Del Norte K-8. Socorro ISD High school teams will be honored at the Secondary School Counselors Conference in Austin on Monday, February 5, 2006. Socorro ISD K-8 schools will be honored in Austin on Monday, April 30, 2007. |
