DepartmentsMaya Kirtley joined Team SISD in November 2001 and has supported the growth and development of the district in various roles in administrative services and public relations. Currently, she is the Public Relations Coordinator. From organizing the annual Teacher of the Year Gala to exemplifying the image and mission of the district through a variety of districtwide events, she believes each project is a unique and creative challenge deserving of an innovative approach. She also is responsible for the Partners in Education program. Since taking over the program in 2006, Maya has successfully increased business participation by 50 percent. In 2010, she was chosen to present on her successful programs at the annual Texas Association of Partners in Education conference, which is attended by community engagement professionals from throughout the state. Her presentation, “The Up and Up on Planning Successful Meetings,” has served as a model for a number of districts looking to mirror her success. Recently, Maya has helped direct and produce the new “Building on Excellence” video series. The show is designed to highlight employees who are changing and molding the Socorro Independent School District, who are innovators in their field and who influence and motivate those around them.
