 Socorro ISD Board of Trustees

The Socorro ISD Board of Trustees consists of seven elected citizens who work with community leaders, families, and educators to develop sound educational policies that support student achievement and ensure the solvency of the District. Together, they are a strong and cohesive team that helps the District continuously set and achieve new levels of excellence. Five of the trustees represent single-member districts and two are elected at-large.

She has been a Socorro ISD parent for the past nine years and is a former Parent Liaison from Horizon Heights Elementary. Mrs. Najera is a District volunteer and past volunteer coordinator for Americas High School and Horizon Heights Elementary School. She and her husband, Luis, have two daughters. Their oldest is a graduate of Americas High School  and their younger daughter attends Col. John O. Ensor Middle School. Paul Guerra, Board Vice President, Represents District 4
A former teacher in Canutillo ISD, Mr. Guerra is a graduate of the University of Texas at El Paso and has 16 years experience in heating, cooling and plumbing sales and management. Currently he is a sales manager for MCU Marketing. In addition to his role as a SISD Trustee, Mr. Guerra serves on the Planning and Zoning Committee for the City of Socorro and is a member of the Socorro Foundation Board of Directors. He previously served on the SISD Citizens Oversight Committee. He and his wife Ann, a teacher at Sanchez Middle School, have six year old triplets who attend Hueco Elementary School.

Angelica Rodriguez, Board Secretary, Represents District 3
Ms. Rodriguez received her Bachelor of Arts and Master of Education degrees from the University of Texas at El Paso. An educator, she began her career as a special education teacher in Socorro ISD, then served as an educational diagnostician with the District from 1999-2005. Currently, she is an Associate Director of Special Education for Clint ISD. She is the proud mother of one daughter, Jessica Morales. Jessica is a 2009 graduate of Montwood High School and currently attends the University of Texas at Austin. Ms. Rodriguez is also an online facilitator for the University of Phoenix, and is a member of the Texas Diagnosticians' Association, TAVAC and TAEP.

Antonio "Tony" Ayub, Trustee, Represents District At-Large

He is a UTEP graduate, graduate of Leadership El Paso and a Licensed Paramedic.  He retired from the City of El Paso as the Deputy Chief of EMS in 1999.  Upon his retirement, he chose a career in education with El Paso Community College, where he is employed as a Professor of EMSP and is assigned as Program Coordinator.  He and his wife, Liz, have two children who are proud Montwood High School Rams.  Erin is a 2008 and Anthony is a 2011 graduate, both are attending UTEP.  He served as the MHS Band Booster President from 2004-2011.  In addition, he has served on the Core Curriculum and Institutional Effectiveness Committees at EPCC.

He is a graduate of Socorro High School and is currently the Vice President of Operations for Socorro Iron and Metal, a company owned by his brother, Willie Gandara Jr. Gary served as a Socorro City Representative from 2002-2007. Mr. Najera has almost 20 years of healthcare finance and operations experience. He holds an undergraduate degree in accounting and an MBA with a healthcare concentration, and is a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives and the Healthcare Financial Management Association. A district parent and volunteer, Mr. Najera has been heavily involved in SISD schools since 2004. He is married with three daughters. His wife, Bonnie works at Horizon Heights Elementary School, where one of his daughters, Crystal, attends school. His daughter Amber attends Col. John O.
