Hello, I am the Counselor for the students A-L. for all grade levels.
I enjoy working with the students at Sanchez and hope that together, we can make a difference in the world.
Each day gives me an opportunity to improve myself and this is what I share with our students. My personal goal is to continue with my education and share how important it is. I want our students to learn that learning is a life-long process.
Middle School is a great training ground for high school and for college preparedness. During the year we focus on doing our best daily to make gains on improving ourselves personally, as well as preparing for the high school experience. With our students, we look into as the college preparationsand interest inventories to help our student have a plan or an idea as field of study or career goal.
We also offer "college minded" presentations with alumni speakers and recruiters from various universities as well as the financial aide officers from U.T.E.P, Community College.
We have presentations on how to make a wise college choice and the realities of scholarships and financial aide. We also have career presentations for our students during this time to help them decide which career they may want to pursue.
We also take pride in the fact that we take Bullying seriously. We have a program call OLWEUS which trains all staff to be aware of Bullying and what to do about it. Our campus practices being Bully Free every day.
This campus also offers Connecting with Kids Program which allows students take take a look at themselves personally on what causes them stress. It is supported by the entire campus and is a pro-active approach for prevention of Bullying as well as the stressors of everyday life.
We also have extended the program for our community. We are pursuing a community-wide Bully-Free ommunity Program which incorporates parents, surrounding businesses, school, and community leaders to set up a program to help the community reduce bullying and other potential problems in the neighborhoods.
Parents, I encourage you to join us when we have our Bully Prevention meetings for the Community and also to join us for the College/Career Minded Nights.
Thank You Parents!
