William Slider Middle School encourages families to read at home everyday.   We as teachers know how important it is for students to be thoughtful and varied readers in order to progress in all subjects.  Parents can help by reading with their child in a quiet place that is conducive to learning.

Slider has continued the successful Accelerated Reading Program from its feeder schools.  Students check out AR books from the library, take them home and read sixty minutes every night.  Most teachers will require a summary of these books in the form of a reading log. When students are finished reading, they take a comprehension test and receive points based on their score.  Each teacher decides how many points are required for their individual reading classes.

The following books will be read in class.  Please see specific teacher's list to find out what your student will be reading.
