As the final touches are put on the new Eastlake High School, 13000 Emerald Pass, and community excitement soars for the opening of the state-of-the-art facility the Socorro ISD has begun accepting transfer requests for students who wish to be part of Falcon history. In addition to serving students from nearby schools Col. John O. Ensor and Desert Wind schools, the campus will offer a limited open enrollment for all area students interested in pioneering a Falcon culture of excellence.
Eastlake, the District's fifth comprehensive high school, will offer a comprehensive college ready curriculum to prepare all students for success after graduation. Through a diverse curriculum and an array of extracurricular and co-curricular activities, the school's goal is to cultivate global citizens by providing opportunities to maximize students' academic, artistic, athletic and social skills.
“In addition to specialized academic pathways available to them – such as engineering, biomedical sciences and global languages – what's exciting for Eastlake's first freshman class is the opportunity to forge traditions and create clubs and organizations that will leave a legacy of excellence for Falcon generations to come,” said Principal Angelica Ramsey. “Also, with an expected opening enrollment of some 400 students, the student to teacher ratio will allow for personalized attention in the classroom and in athletic and fine arts training.”
All eighth grade students in the SISD and surrounding communities are invited to become a part of the inaugural Falcon freshman class in 2010-2011. Students interested in transferring to Eastlake High School must complete the Eastlake High School Transfer Applicationand return it to the Department of Administrative Services at 12440 Rojas or fax to the campus office at 852-4072.
