About Us

  • Socorro Middle was built  in 1990.  Socorro Middle replaced what used to be Socorro Jr. High.  Like Socorro High, the school mascot is the "Bulldog." The school colors are Colombia Blue (baby blue) and Red. Socorro Middle School is one of forty-three campuses in the District and serves students in grades sixth thru eighth. Our current principal, Mr. Jon Valdez, is proud to serve our Socorro Middle School community.

  • Bulldogs Have P.R.I.D.E Initiative
    Parents and Gaurdians,

In order to increase a positive school climate, Socorro Middle School has developed the "Bulldogs Have P.R.I.D.E." initiative. P.R.I.D.E., Personal Responsibility in Delivering Excellence, was initiated on January 6th as part of our positive behavioral intervention & support efforts. Faculty and Staff at Socorro Middle were informed about the initiative during our January 5th professional development and students were told on January 6th. The initiative has three categories that the campus will be closely looking at, which are dress code, attendance and discipline. Each category will be looking at the rates and percentages per grade level. For example, we will give the grade level with the least amount of discipline incidents the winning points for that category, which would be 50 points. We will do the same with the grade level with the best attendance and the grade level that is the most dress code compliant. The grade level with the most points at the end of each month, will earn incentives, such as free dress and music during lunch time. The grade level with the most end of the year points will get a fun field day with outdoor activities in May. To supplement our "Bulldogs Have P.R.I.D.E." initiative, the campus will be giving out P.R.I.D.E. tickets to students who are being responsible, being respectful, taking initiative and have all around good citizenship. These P.R.I.D.E. tickets will be centrally collected at the receptionist area. The campus will conduct weekly drawings with the tickets that were turned in. Prizes will vary, but may include and not limited to, a free dress pass, afterschool treats, breakfast or lunch with the principal, etc. We have confidence that this new initiative will help improve our attendance, discipline and dress code. Thank you,

    Jon Valdez
