Dear Sun Ridge Community:
In a short week, we will be three-fourths done with the school year. For us, it has gone by very quickly, as we are already beginning to make plans for the new school year.
Students are currently choosing their courses for next year. Future freshmen have already selected their courses, and our next year sixth, seventh, and eighth graders are doing the same thing for Sun Ridge. For our eighth graders next year, we have two new programs that we will be introducing. One is AVID, which gives students the skills and the vision to not only enroll in college, but also to graduate from college. The other new elective is Gateway to Technology (GTT), where students will explore problem-solving strategies in a science context. These are classes that prepare students for the prerequisite classes for a career in engineering. Please contact either of our counselors if you have questions about these programs, or about registration in general.
Our math department had a very successful family fun night this past Tuesday. There were several different types of math games & challenges that students and parents could do together. All who attended said that the night was fun and worth their time. We even had some of our students running the booths for the entire evening!
Intersession classes will be from March 10 through March 14, from 8 a.m. to noon, and transportation will be provided. Final notices should go out this week to students. If you are unsure if your child should attend, or if you would like your child to receive additional help, feel free to contact your child’s teacher for more information.
Thank you, and as always, please call us with your questions or concerns…although we love to hear compliments, too. I can be reached at email@example.com or 915-937-6600.
