About Us

El Dorado High School opened in July, 2003 under the leadership of Principal Nora Paugh and Assistant Principals Cynthia Luna and Bob Hood. Originally serving grades 7-9, EDHS is now a comprehensive four year Title I public high school with challenging academic programs designed to meet the needs of a diverse student body. EDHS graduated its first senior class in May, 2007.

Authorized in 2006 EDHS is only one of two high schools in West Texas designated as an International Baccalaureate World School. The class of 2008 boasts its first graduating class of IB diploma candidates. An array of other honors programs are provided for students not pursuing an IB diploma: Advanced Placement, Gifted and Talented, Dual Credit, and AVID.

    Socorro Independent School District is creating a culture in our school that maximizes college and career readiness. The PSAT/NMSQT is a comprehensive assessment program that measures college readiness and provides valuable tools to help students start planning for the future. It Measures skills in critical reading, mathematics and writing while helping put students on the path to college. This assessment will be available free to all 10th grade students. Students in the 11th grade can take the PSAT/NMSQT for $14 (see the Business Manager to see if you qualify for a waiver).
