I am a Speech Language Pathologist, Sheryl Wilcox, at Sgt Roberto Ituarte.  I have been a speech therapist for 10 years with SISD.  I enjoy and love what I do!!  I have a 16 year old son, Jeremy and he attends Eastlake High.  He plays trumpet in the high school Marching Band and wants to be an Engineer!

My duties at Ituarte are to evaluate and service student’s who are eligible for speech therapy services.  I also observe and screen students with speech concerns, after classroom teachers have attempted interventions in the classroom for a designated period of time.  I have sent interventions to the campus for teachers to implement with student struggling in the areas of articulation (speech), language and listening skills.

Listening is a difficult task for anyone, so I have scheduled and worked with up to  27 classrooms in the areas of listening, phonological awareness and attention. I model and provide quick lessons for teachers to assist with their students. I will continue through out the school year to go into interested classrooms, as we build on listening skills.  I enjoy being in the classrooms with these amazing teachers and students!

I work with the Ituarte Positive Behavior Intervention Support Team.  The purpose of the PBIS team is to ensure and create a positive and safe school environment.  We have been focused with the Cafeteria.  It has been such a wonderful experience working with such enthusiastic teachers and go getters!!

I can’t thank Ituarte enough for welcoming me these past two and half years and accepting me as part of such a unique campus!
