Focused on ensuring that students are prepared for a changing and increasingly complex future, Socorro ISD provides all students the opportunity to take challenging Pre-Advanced Placement and Advanced Placement courses starting as early as middle school. With College and Career Readiness a priority in all grade levels, students are encouraged to continue enrolling in Pre-Advanced Placement, Advanced Placement and Dual Credit Courses throughout their secondary education. Early College opportunities are also available at all high school campuses.  Additionally, as part of the commitment to better prepare students for College Readiness, students in SISD are given the opportunity to take the PSAT, NMSQT, and PSAT 10. SISD works collaboratively with CollegeBoard to schedule SAT school day exams.

Starting in elementary school, students are encouraged to participate in numerous academic competitions which strengthen interpersonal  and academic skills.  Opportunities for participation in Destination Imagination, Robotics, and Academic UIL competitions exist on every campus.  For students exhibiting grade-level advanced abilities, gifted and talented services are available on campuses through a variety of program designs.
