  • A Message from your Team SISD Libraries

Please do not worry about your library books. Your safety comes first. Please hold on to your books and take care of them.

We will collect books when we meet in person again, even if you have changed SISD campuses.

About Us

  • Elfida P. Chavéz Elementary opened its doors to students in the fall of 1997. It opened in conjunction with Montwood Middle. The schools are joined at the center and share the heart of the school-the library.

The first principal at Elfida P. Chavéz Elementary was Esther McCarthy and the first assistant principal was Rubina Rodriguez.

Our school is named in honor of Mrs. Elfida Perez Chavez. Mrs. Chavez was the first Hispanic elected to the Socorro ISD school board in 1963.
