David Oscar Morales

Socorro family roots run deep with Mr. Morales. His great grandfather owned and operated The Modelo General Store in Socorro, Texas in the early 1900’s. In addition, his grandfather, Esteban Morales was born in Socorro in 1893. He was also raised in Socorro where he inherited and operated the store. With a desire to continue to serve the community in the same manner as his grandfathers did so many years ago, Mr. Morales was led to the decision to run for the SISD Board of Trustees.
Mr. Morales has a wealth of experience and knowledge in education. Mr. Morales is a graduate of The University of Texas at El Paso, Sul Ross State University, and has served as an educator for over 30 years in three different districts throughout El Paso, including serving as middle school principal. Mr. Morales was awarded TASSP Principal of the year in 2011 for Region 19, which is a distinct recognition in education. In addition, to being an administrator, he was a varsity high school football and head baseball coach for 22 years in the El Paso and Canutillo Independent School District.
Currently Mr. Morales represents El Paso as he serves as Chairman for the PAC 12 Team Host Football Committee with the Sun Bowl Association. He has been an active volunteer for the Sun Bowl Association for over 22 years. Mr. Morales was awarded two times as the most valuable volunteer with the PAC 10 Team Host Committee in 2003 and 2008 with the Sun Bowl Association.
At this time, Mr. Morales is self-employed working as a financial planner and licensed producer in the insurance industry. In addition, he serves as the event coordinator with the Horizon City Festival. Mr. Morales has five children, Madalyn Knipple, David Marc, Amanda Elliott, Nathaniel and Matthew Morales. His wife, Lucia Morales is also an experienced educator and serves as an Assistant Principal in Clint Independent School District. He and his wife have been married for 7 years.
