Socorro ISD provides all students the opportunity to take challenging Pre-Advanced Placement (Pre-AP) and Advanced Placement (AP) courses starting in middle school. With College and Career Readiness a priority at all grade levels, students are encouraged to enroll in Pre-AP, AP, and Dual Credit Courses throughout their education. Early College opportunities are also available at all high school campuses. SISd students are given the opportunity to take the PSAT, NMSQT, and PSAT 10 exams for college. SISD works collaboratively with CollegeBoard to schedule SAT school day exams.
Starting in elementary school, students are encouraged to participate in numerous academic competitions, which include Destination Imagination, Robotics, and Academic UIL. For students exhibiting grade-level advanced abilities, gifted and talented services are available.
