    A native of Houston, Texas, Mrs. Zapata-Farmer has been an educator for over 20 years. She has been a successful principal at both the elementary and middle school levels. Her administrative journey began in the Houston Independent School District during the 2002 school year and lasted until May 2013 when she accepted a position as the Director of High Schools for Des Moines Public Schools. In Des Moines, she spent her time supervising, coaching, and developing high school administrators. Then in the summer of 2014, Zapata-Farmer made a move back to Texas to serve in the Socorro Independent School District. In Socorro ISD, Alisa now serves as the Chief Academic Officer and her days are spent working alongside principals, teachers, and other administrators providing and facilitating professional development, collaborating with colleagues on best practices, and working on projects for the academic success of students.
