Texas Success Initiative (TSI) Assessment
What is the TSI Assessment?
The TSI Assessment is a placement assessment used by several colleges and universities to assess student skill levels in reading, writing, and math. It helps institutions determine which courses the students will be able to enroll in.
Socorro ISD also uses the TSI assessment to place students in Dual Credit courses.
Mandatory Pre-Assessment Activities
Before students are eligible to take the TSI, they must participate in the Pre-Assessment Activity Modules (PAAM). The activity includes the following:
- An explanation of the importance of the TSI Assessment;
- Practice test questions and feedback;
- An explanation of all your developmental education options; if you don't meet the minimum passing standards; and Information on campus and community resources that will help succeed as a college student.

TSI Math TSI Reading TSI Writing Elementary Algebra and Functions Literary Analysis Essay Revision Intermediate Algebra and Functions Main Idea and Supporting Details Agreement Geometry and Measurement Inferences in a Text or Texts Sentence Structure Data Analysis, Statistics and Probability Author's Use of Language Sentence Logic
