Interim Superintendent's Message
Marta C. Carmona, M.Ed.
It is a pleasure and an honor to serve as the interim superintendent for the Socorro Independent School District, a community that I hold close to my heart as a proud graduate of Socorro High School and employee of the district. I thank the SISD Board of Trustees for entrusting me with this important role to lead the students, employees, and community members of our cherished school district.
We have important work ahead of us to ensure that our students are receiving the best education that they deserve and to provide transparent service for the parents, constituents, and community members in SISD. My plan is to work collaboratively, efficiently, and effectively with administrators, principals, teachers, and support personnel to maintain optimal instruction and operations in our great district and to provide a smooth transition as the Board of Trustees conducts their important work to search for and name a permanent superintendent.
I know the valuable employees of SISD serve many, critical functions and my goal is to provide exceptional support for you to thrive and succeed in an enriching work environment. Your success means the success of our students and I aim to keep the district operating smoothly so that we can focus on our most important task of educating students so that they can be successful, high-performing graduates.
We are at a critical juncture as we are wrapping up one of the most challenging school years for all educators, students, and families during the COVID-19 pandemic. As conditions have improved and we anticipate the full return of all students to classrooms for the 2021-2022, I am eager to prepare and welcome our families back to SISD schools. I know many of our students and parents are excited for the fresh start of a new school year, and, while it will be a busy time, it also will be a rewarding time for us to work toward implementing the best plans for our campuses to be ready for students.
I look forward to serving in this leadership capacity to serve our students, staff and families transparently and effectively. With the governance and guidance of the Board of Trustees, we will maintain efficient, successful instruction, operations, and customer service for our beloved SISD community.
