    Electrocardiogram (EKG) techs apply, monitor, and measure electrocardiography testing and are important to any healthcare team. They administer various cardiovascular testing including measuring basic vital signs, performing rapid response procedures, operating an EKG machine, and identifying heart rhythms.

    The healthcare industry is one of the fastest growing in the nation. The employment of EKG technicians is projected to grow 29 percent from 2020 to 2029 (U.S. Bureau).

    This 9th period course is offered as a one-semester course through El Paso Community College's Continuing Education Department and takes place online and on campus. After passing the state exam, students will be eligible to practice as an EKG Technician in the work force.
