K9 Mona joined the Socorro Independent School District Police Department on 10-26-17. K9 Mona obtained her yearly certification to detect the odor of narcotics through N.N.D.D.A. (National Narcotic Detector Dog Association) with her current handler.

As a K9 Team, K9 Handler Sgt. D.Hiltl and K9 Mona provide narcotics detection support to all schools and facilities of the Socorro Independent School District. The K9 Team’s mission is to find illegal controlled substances in all school facilities and Socorro Independent School District owned properties. The K9 team strives to provide a safe and drug free environment for all students, faculty, staff, and visitors. The K9 team also assists local agencies in El Paso County with the detection of narcotics.
