Socorro ISD 2021-2022 Back to School Planning
The Socorro Independent School District Board of Trustees approved the 2021-2022 Back to School Plan at the regular board meeting on June 15, 2021.
In the development of the plan, SISD conducted 65 community and stakeholder meetings, which included more than 1,500 participants who engaged with more than 400 comments, questions, feedback, and recommendations. Among those meetings, there were 10 open public community meetings conducted virtually and in-person in English and Spanish.
As per the Back to School Plan, SISD students will return to campus for face-to-face instruction for the 2021-2022 school year. Texas Senate Bill 1468, which would have allowed for virtual remote learning, was not passed into law during the legislative session. Therefore, the Texas Education Agency has not provided the option to offer virtual/remote instruction.
The district looks forward to continuing the relevant, high-quality education that will prepare all students for a successful future. SISD is grateful for the collaborative community of students, parents, employees, and community members who have shown patience and resiliency and provided us with valuable feedback.
