• SISD safety update

The Socorro Independent School District is providing clarification to the most recent CDC and local health department guidelines of reducing a student’s quarantine period from 10 days to 5 days. CDC guidelines provides clear guidance that the 5 day quarantine timeline MUST be followed by a MANDATED 5 day wearing of a mask by the student.

Unfortunately, as a district we cannot mandate the wearing of a mask by a student and, therefore, will continue to require a 10-day quarantine period to minimize any health risks to any of our campuses.  Our campus nurses and campus administrators will continue to abide by the 10-day quarantine period for any COVID-19 positive case as a result of not meeting the CDC guideline to REQUIRE students to wear a mask while on campus.

We appreciate your support as we mitigate these uncertain times.

Masks in Socorro ISD are highly recommended

The El Paso health authority order requiring masks in all indoor facilities has been lifted after a court order was issued in the Texas 8th Court of Appeals. To continue efforts to mitigate the spread of COVID-19 and Keep SISD Safe, the Socorro Independent School District highly recommends the continued use of masks in indoor settings. Masks remain required on school buses. As ordered by the Center for Disease Control (CDC) and per the federal government’s jurisdiction over public transportation, masks on school buses and all public transportation are required.

SISD has followed the guidance and orders set forth by authorities and will continue to do so. The district also will continue to be proactive in establishing and following safety and wellness protocols to keep our SISD family safe.
