• College and Career Readiness (CCR)

What is College, Career and Military Readiness (CCMR)?

To ensure that all Texas high school students have access to pathways to college and careers, both civilian and military.

For more information on Texas' College, Career and Military Readiness, please visit the Texas Education Agency CCMP webpage.

Socorro ISD provides many opportunities for students to participate in programs that enhance our students' college, career and military readiness, and students' skills development.

      • SISD offers early college high schools and dual credit opportunities at each high school, and college and military preparatory materials to all students in grades 6-12. These materials can be accessed from the my.sisd.net student portal, click on the Clever link, then click on the Edmentum icon.

To enroll in transferrable dual credit classes, students must qualify through assessments or other qualifying criteria. SAT and ACT are the most widely used college assessments nation wide. The Texas Success Initiative Assessment (TSIA2) is the primary test for Texas colleges and universities. Students can see their counselor to determine if they qualify through other criteria.

College Workforce Education Manual (WECM) courses do not require qualifying test scores for students to participate.

EPCC is SISD's partner school for dual credit courses and early college high schools. Students must complete the following for dual credit/early college admission:

        • Take the TSIA2 college readiness exam. Offered to SISD students at all SISD high schools for no cost, sign up with counselors. Students can also take the exam at El Paso Community College (EPCC) for a fee.
        • Complete the ApplyTexas Texas colleges application. It may take up to two weeks for the college number to arrive.
        • Complete and submit the EPCC Early Admissions Form. Paper versions are also available at SISD high schools. If a student moves high schools, a new form must be completed.
        • Complete and submit the Meningitis waiver form. Students taking courses at EPCC will be required to have the Meningitis vaccine.

Reminder: When creating your account on ApplyTexas, remember to keep track of your login information. When choosing colleges to receive your ApplyTexas application, make sure you select El Paso Community College. When you are a senior, you can go back and add additional colleges and universities.
