To successfully implement a comprehensive school counseling program at Sun Ridge Middle School, the counselors are committed to the following beliefs:

Students at Sun Ridge Middle school are successful and happy world class citizens that have the tools and skills necessary to thrive in all areas of their life. All students achieve academic, personal, and social success and are prepared for their post-secondary choices. All students are self-advocates who reach their goals with perseverance and grit. They appreciate diversity, have critical thinking skills, and can effectively collaborate for the common good. Students are empathetic leaders who exhibit kindness for others while actively participating in their communities. These students are lifelong learners that are well prepared to navigate the complexities and challenges of the 21stcentury.
The mission of the Sun Ridge Middle School comprehensive counseling department is to ensure the academic success, social/emotional competency, and post-secondary readiness of all students. By fostering a safe and secure environment, which is equitable and supportive, the students will have a solid foundation that encompasses the learning and implementation of critical thinking skills, collaboration, appreciation of diversity, and empathy towards one another. The school counseling program delivers a developmentally appropriate program which is data driven and geared towards the unique needs of the students. The counselors will develop and implement a rigorous and relevant curriculum, which is taught using a variety of modalities, to reach all students. The counselors are partners with other educators and stakeholders to advocate for equity and access for all.
