To successfully implement a comprehensive school counseling program at Sun Ridge Middle School, the counselors are committed to the following beliefs:
All students should have access to our school counseling program.
All students deserve a safe and nurturing environment.
All student’s ethnic, cultural, racial, sexual differences and special needs are respected and considered when planning and implementing the school counseling program.
All students will have access to a school counselor to address personal/social needs, academic achievement and career planning.
All students have the ability to learn and have the right to take advantage of the educational opportunities provided.
The counseling program should support the strengths of colleagues and parents as it relates to providing positive experiences for children.
The counseling program should be data driven and responsive to the needs of the students.
The vision of the SRMS counseling program is to prepare our students to become globally competitive, lifelong learners. Our students will be imparted with the knowledge and skills to successfully transition to high school, to obtain post-secondary education, and to be productive 21st century citizens.
The mission of the SRMS counseling program is to provide a comprehensive program that addresses the academic, social and emotional needs of all students. Through advocacy and collaboration we strive to provide support that will enable our students to obtain the academic knowledge, career direction, and personal social balance to successfully transition to high school and beyond. We will work in conjunction with teachers, staff, parents and community members to ensure the success of all students.Areas of Guidance and Counseling for SISDASCA National ModelGrief and TraumaTechnology in CounselingCareer and College ReadinessFor More information on district counseling initiatives go to counseling site at http://https://www.sisd.net/
