I have been a part of the Socorro Independent School District for 24 years. During these years I have served as a Teacher, Campus PTA Board Member and PTA President, Instructional Coach, and Administrator. After receiving a degree from UTEP in Early Childhood Education, I became a classroom teacher at Benito Martinez in 1993. I left the classroom in 2005 to become an Instructional Coach at Bill Sybert School, working to implement Early Literacy Initiatives. In 2007, I moved to Elfida P. Chavez, and continued work as an Instructional Coach for the next five years. I completed a Master’s Degree in Educational Administration in early 2010, and was promoted to Assistant Principal at Vista Del Sol Elementary in 2012. In 2014, I became the Assistant Principal at O’Shea Keleher Elementary. Then, in August of 2015, I was privileged to become the Principal here at Elfida P. Chavez. Coming back here felt like coming home, and I feel blessed to be here each and every day.
