• Elfida P. Chavez  Student Dress Code

    It is the philosophy of the Socorro Independent School District and Elfida P. Chavez School that all students should maintain standards of dress grooming, and appearance. SISD has established the following universal uniform options to compliment the other agreed upon school uniform options:

    • Khaki pants and a white polo shirt without school logo;
    • School uniform pants and a school colored polo shirt without a school logo.
    • Physical education uniform bottoms (shorts or sweatpants in any color) and a white, gray, or school colored T-shirt without a school logo.

    As per Policy FNCA(LOCAL), a universal uniform may be worn at any SISD school which has elected to implement a school uniform policy.

    We will continue to enforce the uniform policy this year by wearing school uniforms.

    Pre-k

    For Tops the students must wear yellow or gold t-shirt or polo.

    For bottoms the students may wear pants or shorts of navy or khaki twill, or plain blue and wheat (beige) jeans. Navy and khaki twill skirts and jumpers are also acceptable. The length of the shorts and skirts must exceed the length of the fingertips when arms are held to the body. The bottom must also fit properly and be plain without holes or designs. (Baggy or saggy pants, leggings and bicycle shorts are not permitted). Tights may be worn (in school colors) Monday through Thursday.

    K-5th

    For tops the students are expected to wear burgundy, white, navy or hunter green polo or school t-shirt (BFF, Special Olympics, STAAR). The school logo is optional. During cold weather students may wear a long sleeved shirt of these same colors underneath the uniform shirt.

    Students will have Free Dress Friday each week as an earned privilege, and for special occasions, but please ensure they are dressed properly by following these guidelines. Please keep in mind that students have P.E. class on Fridays also.

    • Students must wear respectable clothing free of gang associations, and alcohol or drug related illustrations.
    • All students will wear tops with appropriate sleeves. (Spaghetti straps, halters, or bare midriffs will not be allowed).
    • All students are required to wear appropriate footwear to school. P.E. requires an athletic shoe for exercising and running. Footwear that poses a danger to your child’s safety will not be permitted.
    • Students must not wear clothing, or accessories, that cause a disruption or a safety/health hazard.

    We appreciate your help with enforcing this dress code. You will be called to bring appropriate clothing for your child if they do not follow the Elfida P. Chavez Dress Code.
