    Gifted & Talented Program

    SISD GT MISSION STATEMENT

SISD provides an array of differentiated learning experiences, facilitated by trained teachers, counselors, and administrators that recognize the unique social, emotional, and intellectual needs of gifted and talented students.  Nomination and testing occurs in both the fall and spring of each year. The SISD Gifted and Talented program will direct an educational program that will identify, nurture, and challenge the abilities of gifted students to a maximum capacity, thereby expanding their potential in order for identified students to realize areas of their contribution to self and society.

Secondary: Identified GT students are provided services through their area/s of strength.  GT students are served through Pre-AP, AP and/or Dual Credit courses at the high school level.  They are also provided the opportunity to participate in an independent studies class with the focus on the Texas Performance Standards Projects.

    GT ULTIMATE GOAL

The ultimate goal of the gifted and talented program is to develop within a student the desire for excellence and self-directed learning, thinking, research and communication and a sense of individual responsibility to the school community and the community at large.
