School History

  • In July 2014, students of the Sparks and Mission Ridge Community got to walk to their very own elementary school, only a few streets away, for the very first time.  After years of students being bused and served in neighboring schools, they will finally have an $18 million facility that will be a state-of-the-art, environmentally friendly facility built to seek Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design (LEED) certification, but most importantly, they will have a beautiful school that the students and the community will be proud to call their own.

In late September 2013, Socorro Independent School District officials broke ground on the 46th school in the district that will be located at 150 Nonap Road.  The 46th school in the district will accommodate 800 elementary students in the Eastlake High School feeder area.

The school is being built thanks to the $297.4 million dollar bond overwhelmingly approved by voters in 2011. District officials have been addressing the continuing growth and improvements to the district. The school is the second new campus built under the bond program.  PSRBB Architects designed the new school and Banes General Contractors are the builders.
