Our Physical Education class teaches students to develop healthy living habits that will last a lifetime. Students participate in a wide variety of activities, sports and challenges that will increase their physical, social, and mental abilities, teamwork and cooperation skills. We hope to provide a safe, fun and motivating class that will encourage all students to want to participate, have fun and try their best.

PE Expectations

Montwood High School PE Rules and Expectations:
Rules and Expectations:*Students will follow directions
*Students will be respectful, responsible, and courteous to teachers and fellow peers.
*Students will dress out in their PE clothes daily.
*Students will be expected to participate daily.
*Being active and showing effort in all activities is the key to being successful in PE.
*No food, drinks or gum in the PE areas: foyer, gym, locker rooms, activity areas.
*No glass or aerosol containers are allowed in the locker room.Dress out policy:
Students are expected to dress out daily in appropriate attire.
Student’s grades are affected by the number of non-dresses per quarter. Each quarter they will start with a new record.
Appropriate attire will be required for all students to ensure proper hygiene, safety and comfort. Tennis shoes, socks, shorts (appropriate length and fit), sweats and t-shirts are acceptable.
Tardy policy:
Students are considered tardy if they are not inside the locker room before the bell rings.
Each 9 weeks they will start with a clean record.Gum Policy:
No gum allowed in PE areas: foyer, gym, locker rooms, activity areas.
1st offense: verbal warning 2nd offense: parent contact 3rd offense: Administrative referral
Excused or sick policy:
· A note from home excusing participation will be honored for 3 PE days; thereafter a doctor’s note will be required.Grading Policy:
Grades will be based on the following criteria. (Students are not graded on their skill level, but on effort given)

· Effort and Participation
· QuizzesA = 90% - 100%
B = 80% - 89%
C = 75% - 79%
D = 74% - 70%
F = 69% or lowerConsequences for misbehavior:
Warning Time-out in class/ Student conference. Second offense parent contact. Third offense Administrative referral.
