PE Expectations
-
We at Pebble Hills High School believe that well-planned physical education programs can help students establish lifetime patterns of wholesome and rewarding physical activities.
Objective:
The aim of our physical education program balances and contributes to the physical and academic learning of all students. We are not separate and distinct from the core curriculum. It involves students directly in thinking, creating meaning, and learning how to learn. We feel that all students have the potential to become physically educated, and our program will reach all students regardless of their talents, skills, or limitations. Our program is oriented to the success of every student, and provides a non-threatening environment.
P.E. Uniform
Pebble Hills implements a STRICT SUIT-OUT policy. Every student will suit out in P.E. clothes everyday unless instructed otherwise by the P.E. teacher or a medical note from a U.S. doctor.
Attendance:
Attendance is recorded in the teacher's grade book. Please remember to bring your coach an excused absence slip from the Attendance Clerk in order for your coach to submit the change. Any notes to be excused from participating or suiting out must be presented to the School Nurse in writing and signed by the parent or guardian. This must be done before school. The nurse must clear the parents' note in order for the student to be excused. Students will suit- out, observe, and must remain with the class during the P.E. period. Any excuse for more than a day will require a United States doctor's verification. Any unexcused absences, as per school policy, will result in a zero. If a student has an excused absence, he/she will be given two days to make-up missed assignments.
Normal physical activity is advocated during menstruation by medical authorities. Therefore, girls are not excused from participation or suiting-out at this time.
Locker Room Expectations:
Cell phones are to be put away at all times in the locker rooms. If they are out for ANY reason, they will be confiscated and turned into the front office. A cell phone being used during a suit-out or suit-in time is a severe violation of privacy. There is to be no misconduct in the locker room. Unnecessary loudness, profanity, running, pushing, throwing gear, horseplay, or any action which can harm another student, will not be tolerated. Students will keep the locker rooms and restroom areas always clean.
Any violation of the locker room rules will result in immediate action at the coaches’ discretion. In severe cases, a Socorro I.S.D. Police Officer/Security will conduct an investigation of the infraction.
Procedures and Routines:- The students will come into the gym through the side gym doors and will report to their designated coach for attendance.
- The students will have 5 MINUTES to suit-out, drink water, and use the bathroom facilities.
- The students will walk the gym perimeter until coaches blow their whistle to begin instruction.
- 10 minutes will be given to the students so they may change back into their school uniform after instructional time.
- The students will remain in the gym until dismissed by the bell or coach. (Any student who leaves early without consent will be issued a referral)
Grading:
Every coach has their own grading criteria of daily grades, quizzes, and tests. 50% participation 50% suit out
