Sparta Business Academy
The Sparta Business Academy is designed to prepare students for college and career-readiness in the fields of Accounting, Finance, and Economics. SBA students will have the opportunity to earn up to 48 college credit hours towards a Bachelor of Arts in Business transferrable to the University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP). With a GECU branch incorporated into Pebble Hills HS and collaboration with UTEP and businesses in the city, Pebble Hills High School is the best place to start the business pathway. In addition, students will have the opportunity to serve as student representatives on the Federal Reserve Advisory Board and GECU Advisory Board. Students may also be placed in business internships, externships and job shadowing positions. Students will travel and visit top business schools in Texas to include Texas Tech and U.T Austin. Students in the Business Academy will be equipped with skills needed to become Future Leaders.
The application is competitive, and the academy will accept 125 students per year. Students may attain an application through their 8th grade counselor in December/January of their 8th grade year. Applications are then reviewed, and each student will be notified as to whether their application was approved by February. Applications are reviewed based on the following: Overall Academic Performance, STARR Scores, Attendance, and Discipline.
