  • Attention Incoming Freshmen: 2018-2019 Spring Bridge Academy

    As you are making your intercession plans, please be aware that the mandatory College Prep-Bridge Academy is scheduled for the following days; March 11-March 15, 2019 from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at Mission Early College High School.  In the upcoming Bridge Academy, you will be provided with the additional support required to complete your enrollment at MECHS as well as El Paso Community College.  During the camp, we will have field trips to El Paso Community College as well as a new student orientation. The College Prep Bridge Academy will be a time to get to know your classmates from all participating middle schools, your teachers, and to prepare for meeting the high expectations of Mission Early College High School. If you do not pass the TSI at the March Bridge Academy or do not attend, it will be mandatory that you attend the Summer Bridge Academy June 3-June 7, 2019 from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

  • Stop Cold (TSI) Testing-EPCC Saturday Review Sessions

    EPCC is hosting TSI review session at their Valle Verde Campus on February 23rd, March 2nd, and March 9th. Times range from 8:00AM-2:00PM and include review sessions for Reading, Math, and Writing. Students who have been accepted for the 2019-2020 academic year, or who are needing assistance with TSI,  are encouraged to attend. See the attached flyer for details.

  • Pie with the Principal

    Join MECHS Principal Ben Ortega for pie, questions, and discussion about MECHS and the MECHS community. The meetings will take place on February 28, March 27, and April 25 at 9AM in Portable 12. Dates may be subject to change.

  •  2018 National Blue Ribbon School

    Mission Early College High School was named a 2018 National Blue Ribbon School on Oct. 1 2018. Secretary of Education Betsy Devos made the announcement via video through the Department of Education website.

    MECHS is one of only 349 schools across the nation to be recognized this year. Mission was also acknowledged as a Blue Ribbon School in 2012. Schools from across the country are nominated and then access a strenuous application process that includes data, test scores, creative strategies, school culture and more.

About Us

  • In August 2005, Socorro Independent School District and the El Paso Community College jointly created Mission Early College High School (MECHS). This unique school is founded on the belief that many young people are ready and eager to do serious college work. It enables highly motivated students to move in four years from the ninth grade through the first two years of college, earning the associate of arts (A.A.) degree. Students from many different backgrounds who have a strong record of excellence and diverse interests will benefit from MECHS curriculum. Students will become equipped with the analytical skills needed to pursue their passions.
