The Socorro Independent School District Department of School Counseling will provide the resources for school counselors to be competent, knowledgeable and receptive to the needs of meeting academic, personal and social needs of students as they prepare to be productive citizens of the 21st century, through training, professional development and networking opportunities throughout the academic year.
The mission of the Socorro Independent School District Department of School Counseling is to assist school counseling programs so they may provide a comprehensive developmental guidance and counseling program that will maximize the academic, social emotional, and career competencies of all students so that they may realize personal post-secondary goals.

Amanda Bustamante, Counselor at Hurshel Antwine and Paso Del Norte School, was recently named the 2018-2019 Texas School Cousnelor of the Year, sponsored by the Lone Star State School Counselor Association. Helen Ball Elementary School Counseling Program received the Recognized American School Counselor Association (RAMP) award in Boston in July of 2019. Helen Ball was the only Texas elementary school to receive this award. Congratulations to Helen Ball for your hard work and dedication to the students of Socorro ISD!!
2017 Recognized ASCA Model Program Winner, Montwood High School
Montwood High School Counseling Program received the Recognized American School Counselor Association (RAMP) award on July 10, 2017 in Denver, Colorado. MHS was the only Texas school to receive this award. Congratulations to MHS for having a dynamic comprehensive data driven school counseling program for ALL MHS students!
