    The Socorro Independent School District is a rapidly growing school district serving more than 47,000 students with innovative instruction in state-of-the art facilities. Team SISD is an outstanding educational institution having been recognized at the local, state, and national level with numerous accolades. Notably, the district earned the Postsecondary Readiness Distinction Designation, the only distinction awarded at the district level, in the 2018 Texas Education Agency accountability ratings, and was named a three-time HEB Excellence in Education district finalist.

    Superintendent Dr. José Espinoza earned the 2018-19 Texas K-12 Tech Savvy Superintendent Award, the 2017 Escalante-Gradillas Best in Education Prize and the Region 19 Superintendent of the Year Award. The SISD Board of Trustees was named as a finalist and twice as a semi-finalist in the HEB Excellence in Education Awards. They were also recognized as a Texas Honor Board and twice as a Region 19 Board of the Year.

SISD educators are highly qualified, effective professionals and are dedicated to their students, schools and communities.     The mission of the Socorro Independent School District is to optimize our student’s academic, artistic, athletic, and interpersonal skills.

    SISD Strategic Plan

    SISD’s Strategic Plan guides the day-to-day work of Team SISD in order to meet the district’s overarching goal of ensuring 100 percent of students graduate from high school prepared for the college and career of their choice. The plan was developed to move the district forward while meeting the needs of SISD’s students, parents and broader community, and serves as the pathways to success while focusing on improving academic achievement of all students.
