Dress-up days, Dr. Seuss books complete Read Across America celebrations
Crazy hair, crazy socks and crazy costumes were all part of the NEA’s Read Across America celebrations in schools across the Socorro Independent School District. Elementary and K-8 schools celebrated the annual reading event with myriad activities surrounding the birthday of beloved children’s author Dr. Seuss.

SISD Pre-K and kindergarten registration
The Socorro Independent School District will be having pre-registration for Pre-K and kindergarten students for the upcoming 2013-14 school year on March 11-14, with Pre-K registration scheduled from 8 to 11 a.m. and kindergarten (for those students new to the district) from 1 to 3 p.m.

About 900 parents, students and community members attended a community meeting to learn more about James P. Butler Elementary School and SSG. Manuel R. Puentes Middle School, the two newest schools in the Socorro Independent School District, on Feb. 28 at El Dorado 9th Grade Academy.
