Socorro ISD to follow Region 19 School System COVID-19 On Campus Attendance Plan
Socorro ISD will follow the Region 19 School System COVID-19 Campus Attendance Plan to guide its safe transition back to in-person learning. Approved by the Texas Education Agency, the data-driven plan will provide the district the flexibility to follow the data and safely reopen schools when the local community health improves.
The final transition plan for the entire El Paso Region follows the framework developed by the Socorro ISD team in collaboration with the local health authority and other area districts.
The district leadership team is working through the details of this latest update and will share additional information as it is available. In the interim, beginning Monday October 26, 2020, students who were on campus prior to the break will continue to have a choice on whether to have their kids learn remotely or on campus; teachers will continue to have the choice to work remotely or in their classrooms. Campus and district support staff will be notified by their supervisors regarding their schedules.
The return date for both students whose parents continue to choose in-person instruction and for teachers will be determined by the state of our community health following the regional plan.

High school athletics, fine arts and other UIL activities will continue as scheduled following UIL guidelines as well as guidance by the local health authorities and collaboration among athletic directors in area school districts.
We know our stakeholders have many questions, and we are doing our best to answer all in a timely manner, but we ask for your patience as our team continues to work through the many issues before us. Rest assured that we will provide updates as information becomes available.
As with all COVID-19 plans, it is important to note that details may be subject to change pending the state of our local community health and new guidance issued by national, state, and local authorities as we progress through the school year.
Remember, practice social distancing, wear a mask, and wash your hands regularly so we can all do our part in keeping Team SISD safe!
