Americas High School was proud to announce Joshua Nunn as the school’s new track and field head coach on Feb. 15 in the school’s rotunda.
Nunn shared his excitement for the opportunity to coach the Trailblazers.
“I just know that these kids work really hard, and they deserve somebody who has passion in track who's going to develop them, and I believe that I'm that guy,” Nunn said.
A native of Abilene, Texas, Nunn moved to El Paso in 2006 where he accepted his first coaching job at Chapin High School. During his career, he served as head coach of the track team at Cathedral High School. He coached at Irvin High School before joining the Socorro Independent School District in 2023. He graduated from McMurry University in Abilene.
Americas High School Principal Nancy Torres said she appreciated Nunn working with the track and field athletes during the offseason to get them ready for competition this spring.
“Coach Nunn has already contributed a lot of his time to our Blazer nation,” Torres said. “Anytime someone contributes their extra time for your success, I’m always going to be extremely happy for that time.”
