Collage of scholarship recipients

Seven high school graduates from the Socorro Independent School District’s Class of 2025 were awarded $1,000 scholarships from the Burger King Foundation to continue their educational journeys.

The recipients included Gabriella Gonzalez from Americas High School, Sara Granados from Eastlake High School, Alondra Banuelos-Garcia and Syriana Jones from Montwood High School, Madison Green and Adaly Rivera from Pebble Hills High School, and Yoselinne Lopez Vicuna from Socorro High School. They were among 20 scholarship recipients from the El Paso area who were celebrated at an event on June 17.

Students were recognized for their hard work, academic excellence and leadership qualities.

Since its founding in memory of Burger King co-founder James W. McLamore, the Burger King Foundation has awarded over $64 million in scholarships to more than 54,000 students across North America. This year, local fundraising efforts by El Paso Burger King teams raised over $20,000 to support these scholarships.

Recipients were selected through an application process that took into consideration their grade point average (GPA), work experience, extracurricular activities, financial need and community service.
