Eastlake High School’s Mariachi Falco soared to the top, earning the prestigious Division 1 Superior rating for the first time at the 2026 UIL State Mariachi Festival on Feb. 21 in Seguin, Texas.
Socorro High School's Los Gavilanes once again also received an overall Division 1 rating.
Additionally, Americas High School's Mariachi Los Pioneros, Pebble Hills High School’s Los Guerreros, and El Dorado High School's Mariachi Azteca participated in the state competition, which showcased the top talent from across Texas.
“Every mariachi program in our district works incredibly hard and deserves recognition,” said SISD Fine Arts Director Armando Martinez. “Their success reflects that dedication, and we are proud of their outstanding achievement at the state level.”
Eastlake’s Mariachi Falco is directed by Steve Hernandez, Cynthia Cabada, Daniel Rivera, Lilliana Labrado and Jessica Hernandez. The directors for Americas Mariachi Los Pioneros are Jose Rios and Rocio Rios. Claudia Rascon is the director of El Dorado’s Mariachi Azteca. The directors for Pebble Hills Mariachi Los Guerreros are Daniel Reyes and Eduardo Garcia, and the directors for Socorro’s Los Gavilanes are Jose Parada and Juan Gonzalez.
In addition to the Division 1 ratings, several students were recognized individually as Exemplary Performers throughout the contest. They are:
