Dress Code Flyer

Universal Uniform for SISD:

Khaki pants and white polo shirt without school logo.

Hernando Middle School Uniform:

Tops

  • Solid navy blue, burnt orange or white polo shirt with or without logo

  • Any school issued Hernando spirit t-shirt

  • M

    ust be appropriately sized and appropriate in length

  • Thursday is college t-shirt day

Bottom

  • Khaki, navy, or black docker style pants (any brand), shorts or skorts. Blue/black jeans, jean shorts or jean skorts that are:

    • free of holes, rips, tears or patches even if no skin is showing

    • sized to a natural waist and are not tight fitting or baggy beyond natural size

    • not sagging

Physical Education:

  • Gray shirt

  • Dark (black or blue) athletic loose shorts (may not be tight or too short)

  • Black or gray sweatpants

Jackets / Sweatshirts:

  • Hernando sweaters, sweatshirts, hoodies or jackets will be allowed in the building

  • Hoodie hoods are not allowed to be worn over the head during school

  • All other sweaters, jackets, etc. may not be worn inside the building unless they have a zipper from neck to waist and worn open at all times

Shoes:

  • Closed toe tennis shoes with a hard rubber sole are the only shoes allowed

  • Crocs, sandals, flip flops, Birkenstocks, boots, steel-toed shoes, slides, shoes with wheels, slip-ons, slippers, etc. are not allowed

May Not Be Worn To/In School:

  • Sweatpants, leggings, pajama bottoms

  • Sunglasses indoors

  • Bandanas in any form

  • Belt buckles with initials, names, logos or metal studs

  • Caps, hats, stocking caps, hoods, beanies or other such items that cover the head

  • Shaved eyebrows or body piercings

  • Weapon-like items or accessories (wallets with chains, etc.)

  • Anything considered lewd offensive, distracting or that creates controversy, chaos

    or safety concerns on campus

Dress Code Violations:

  • Uniform checks are conducted before first period to ensure students are wearing their uniform

  • Uniform checks may also be conducted throughout the school day by all educators

  • Students out of dress code, when they enter, or anytime during the school day, will call parents for a change of clothes

  • Students who do not have a change of clothes will remain in SAC

  • Office referrals may be given

Additional Information:

  • One backpack is allowed and must be worn on the back, not the front (unless approved by PE/sports coach for sports equipment)

  • Students who are addressed for wearing hoodie hoods during the school day, on more than one occasion, will not be allowed to wear hoodies the rest of the school semester/year

  • Administrators on campus will make determination on dress code according to this list and/or per the administrator's discretion, as each case is unique
