SISD maintains breakfast and lunch rates, informs families of meal benefits | |
| The Socorro Independent School District will maintain its meal rates for the 2009-2010 school year, offering healthy food every school day at a minimal cost to families. The regular cost for parents of elementary students (PK-5) is $1 for breakfast and $1.65 for lunch. Secondary (6-12) meals cost $1.15 for breakfast and $2 for lunch. Students may qualify for free or reduced-price meals; which are 30 cents for breakfast and 40 cents for lunch. Read more... |

| The Socorro High School baseball team made history when it won the state baseball championship earlier this month, earning the players and coaching staff accolades from near and far – but no one could have guessed just how far its story would travel. Uniform exchange to help families dress students for success | |
| Three Socorro ISD moms have made it their mission to help make sure all students look and feel their best when they return to school on August 3rd. They have organized a uniform exchange to match students in need of assistance with new or lightly used clothes. “We just noticed kids outgrowing their uniforms throughout the year and came up with the idea to help them and their families keep up,” said Evarista Valles, a Dr. Sue Shook Elementary School parent who helped start the exchange. “We are three moms living day-to-day just like everyone else.” Read more... |

It’s that time of year again. School is out and graduations are over – but before you ride off into the sunset to enjoy a well-deserved summer break, make sure you plan to register your students and get them ready to start the 2009-2010 school year. Registration for the SISD’s 40 campuses, including the new Spec. Rafael Hernando III Middle School and Chester E. Jordan Elementary School, is underway. |
Summer Food Program looks to offer Friends, Fun & Food! | |
| The Socorro Independent School District will open participating cafeterias from Jun. 1-Jul. 3 to offer free, nutritious meals at no charge to all kids age 18 and younger. Breakfast will be served from 7-8 a.m., and lunch from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. To participate, children can simply show up – there is no cost, registration, or proof of income or age required. Read more... |
