| Slider NJHS rallies community for ailing classmate | |
| The students of William D. Slider Middle School’s National Junior Honor Society (NJHS) are learning a lot this year. From arithmetic to language arts the NJHS students are at the top of their class but it’s their heart that is shining the brightest. The students have rallied their classmates and teachers to support a fellow student and his family as he battles a life-threatening disease. | SISD celebrates NEA’s Read Across America, honors Dr. Seuss | |
![]() | Students, teachers and District administrators celebrated NEA’s Read Across America on March 2nd and tied in silly fun to motivate children to become lifelong readers and learners. The event is recognized every year on the birthday of children’s author Dr. Seuss and is sponsored annually by the Socorro Education Association/TSTA/NEA. From donning red and white striped hats to decorating their classrooms and wearing ‘silly’ socks, schools across the District creatively brought to life the work of the beloved author. Read more... |
| Eastlake begins open enrollment | |
![]() | As the final touches are put on the new Eastlake High School, 13000 Emerald Pass, and community excitement soars for the opening of the state-of-the-art facility the Socorro ISD has begun accepting transfer requests for students who wish to be part of Falcon history. In addition to serving students from nearby schools Col. John O. Ensor and Desert Wind schools, the campus will offer a limited open enrollment for all area students interested in pioneering a Falcon culture of excellence. Read more... |

The SISD Teacher of the Year program honors excellence in classroom education and provides a forum for the District to showcase the many outstanding educators whose efforts and examples inspire their students, their colleagues and the communities they serve.
