| Vista Del Sol nurse named as Region 19 School Nurse of the Year | |
| School nurses go beyond the cuts and scrapes that come from the playground. They are child health care advocates and promoters of overall well being for students and staff. As the nation celebrates School Nurses Day on May 7, Vista del Sol School Nurse Ramona Garcia will have an additional recognition as Region 19 School Nurse of the Year. | El Paso emergency personnel stage an accident scene at Socorro High School to show students about the dangers of drinking and driving. With two wrecked vehicles, and police and fire crews assessing victims, the Shattered Dreams program is aimed at showing students that underage drinking is never a good choice. | Socorro Baseball Team makes National Poll | |
| The Socorro High School Baseball Team is named as one of the Super 25 High School Baseball Teams by USA Today. In the South region, the team is ranked in 10th behind other Texas teams and teams from Florida, Georgia, and North Carolina. Ranked 12th in the poll, the team now prepares for its area playoff game against Mansfield Summit in Midland. TX. The team will play its first game on Friday, May 9 in the best of three series. With a 32-2 record, the team advanced after defeating Lubbock 5-0 and 12-0 in bi-district play. Read more... |
| SISD Mariachi groups entertain at SAC | |
| The sounds of mariachi music filled the SAC on Sunday afternoon. More than 13 groups from SISD schools performed at the 4th Annual Mariachi Concert. Groups from El Dorado High School, Ernesto Serna School, Montwood High School, Montwood Middle School, Socorro High School, Socorro Middle School, Sun Ridge Middle School, and William D. | Women’s Shelter benefits from Extreme Makeover | |
| In the span of a couple a months, the Dame La Mano shelter has gone through a transformation thanks to the hard work of Americas High School students. From the new paint and landscaping to the playground and fixed fence, the shelter’s renovation is a result of many hours of hard work of put in by members of 11 service groups at Americas High School. Coordinated and organized by Americas seniors Louis Armendariz and Jason Shirazi, Operation Collaboration combined the manpower of more than 100 student volunteers, parents and teachers.
