Mission

It is the mission of the Socorro ISD Police Department to provide services with integrity and dedication, to preserve life, to enforce the law, and to work in partnership with the Socorro Independent School District, the City and County of El Paso, and other law enforcement agencies in order to enhance the quality of education and life in our community.

Goals

George Johnson

SISD Chief of Police

George Johnson

Chief Johnson is a native El Pasoan and has served the community for over 30 years. He has been employed with Socorro ISD since 2014 and was the first Traffic Enforcement Officer and the first Special Traffic Investigator for the District. He retired from the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office with 24 years of service. His assignments included K9 Handler, Special Traffic Investigator, White Collar, Criminal and Narcotics investigations.

Chief Johnson’s vision is to promote a community policing style of leadership that stresses intelligent, partnership-oriented strategies involving community stakeholders, as well as various members of the criminal justice system

Miguel Liano

SISD Lieutenant

Miguel Liano

Lieutenant Liano was born and raised in El Paso, Texas. He began his law enforcement career with the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office, where he retired after 22 years of service with the rank of Detective. During his tenure with the Sheriff’s Office, he served in Patrol, Background Investigations, and the Narcotics/Special Operations Bureau. He also served as a task force officer with federal law enforcement agencies and the Texas Department of Public Safety.

In 2021, he was employed with the Socorro Independent School District Police Department, where he worked as the School Resource Officer at Pebble Hills High School. Prior to promotion as Lieutenant with the SISD Police Department, he served as the school district’s Lead Detective for the Investigations section.
