The Socorro Independent School District has proudly awarded the first ever Elite Level Customer Service pin to employees who received the top three shoutouts from July 7 to Aug. 21, 2025.
SISD is ALL In to recognizing deserving employees who go above and beyond in providing exceptional customer service through the Elite Level Customer Service program. These individuals exemplify the SISD WAY and received outstanding shoutouts from colleagues, parents, and other SISD staff members.
The three Elite Level Customer Service winners were chosen from ten finalists who were among the more than 396 shoutouts submitted from July 7 to Aug. 21. The Elite Level recognition highlights the district’s commitment to excellence and the exceptional efforts of our dedicated staff.
The winners and their shoutouts are:
Cleofas Barrios, the head custodian at Americas High School:
“We’d like to give a huge shoutout to our Head Custodian at Americas High School, whose unwavering dedication and service truly reflect the SISD Way. Every day, he goes above and beyond to support our students, staff, and community members with a commitment that is safe, individualized, sensitive, determined, and welcoming. His work ensures that our campus is not only clean and secure, but also a place where everyone feels valued and respected. He exemplifies the belief that “all means all” and consistently shows that “you make it happen” through his tireless efforts and positive attitude. Thank you for being a vital part of our Blazer family and for making a lasting impact on our school culture.”
Wanona Hendrix, a special education secondary practical academics skills (PAS) teacher at SSG. Manuel R. Puentes Middle School:
“We are writing this letter as parents of Daniel to express our deepest gratitude and appreciation for an exceptional teacher in your district, Ms. Hendrix at Puentes Middle School, who made a profound difference in our son's life. Ms. Hendrix went far beyond her role as a teacher. When Daniel was diagnosed with diabetes, she remained actively involved even after he was temporarily placed on homebound instruction. She consistently checked in with us, made sure his educational needs were being met, and supported us every step of the way. When Daniel returned to school, she worked closely with the school nurse and our family to maintain his blood sugar levels. Ms. Hendrix even adapted classroom recipes to make them diabetes-friendly. She did all this without ever singling him out or disrupting the learning experience of the other students. Her communication with us was always clear, consistent, and compassionate. We witnessed her love and dedication not just to Daniel, but to all her students whether in the classroom or on field trips. She truly treats each child as her own and is deeply committed to their success and well-being.”
Rosalba Herrera, a first-grade bilingual teacher at John Drugan School:
“We are beyond grateful for the kindness, patience, and dedication Mrs. Herrera at John Drugan School (1st Grade) has shown our twins during their transition from Butler Elementary. She’s gone above and beyond to make them feel comfortable, welcome, and excited to learn every day. Her compassion and the fun, supportive environment she creates have made such a difference for our family. Thanking her and big shout out for what she does, it truly shows in every smile our children bring home.”
If you would like to acknowledge a teacher, colleague, or staff member for their exceptional work, or thank a parent volunteer or Partner in Education for supporting our students, we encourage you to take a moment to give them a well-deserved shoutout. Your recognition highlights the amazing contributions that make our district truly exceptional.
