Cross Country, Football, and Volleyball Sports Meeting
Where: Slider Gym
Start Time: 5:45
Who: Slider coaches representing each sport. Quick meet/greet and vital fall Sports information
Dear 7th/8th grade Slider Stallion's parents/students,
My name is Gustavo Hernandez, and I am the athletic coordinator here at William D. Slider Middle School. We wanted to welcome our upcoming student athletes who will be partaking in football, volleyball, and cross country. With the fall season sports coming up so rapidly, we wanted to introduce our coaches and give out information such as practice times, tryouts, and other important pieces of information. Coaches from all three sports (volleyball, football, and cross country) will be there to answer questions that you may have. Our sports team of baseball, softball, and soccer have set the bar high to start the year and we hope to emulate their success this fall.
Please be aware that all students must have a physical form on file and that their Rank one online sports documentation must be completed for a student to take part in 7th and 8th grade sports. Without the completion of these two items, students will not be allowed to participate in or tryout for any athletic sport. We are attaching the physical form and the instructions to complete the rank one sports online documentation. All physicals (except for cheerleading) must be dated after May 1, 2025. Physical paperwork is valid for ALL sports during the 2025-2026 school year. When both portions of the physical are completed, they will be turned into Coach Hernandez in room 211 and he will upload the physical and clear students for participation.
Again, this only pertains to students that are in 7th and/or 8th grade this 2025-26 school year looking to play football, volleyball or cross country.
Thank you,
Gustavo Hernandez

We need your immediate support in addressing a concerning trend that has made its way from social media onto our campus. Students have been using phrases such as “6-7” and certain hand gestures (pointer finger and thumb) to taunt and target others, including classmates who may be more vulnerable to teasing or exclusion.
These behaviors are disruptive, hurtful, and violate the district’s Student Code of Conduct. They are often intended to provoke or cause distress, which is unacceptable in our school community.
A few students have reported that these actions are threatening, intimidating, humiliating and it is affecting their ability to participate in or benefit from an educational program or activity and it creates an intimidating, threatening, hostile or offensive educational environment and interferes with our students academic performance.
Slider community, please speak with your child tonight about refraining from these and any other inappropriate phrases or gestures seen on social media. Students engaging in such conduct will face disciplinary action, which may include in-school or out-of-school suspension and possible placement in an alternative school setting.
Thank you for partnering with us to ensure a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment for all students.

We have noticed that many students have backpacks displaying different tags and la bubu’s. Please be advised that these items are not permitted on the campus. We ask that our students leave their backpack tags and la bubu’s at home. If tags or la bubu’s are lost, misplaced or stolen, the campus will not investigate this case.

My name is Gustavo Hernandez, and I am the athletic coordinator here at William D. Slider Middle School. We wanted to welcome our upcoming student athletes who will be partaking in the rich athletic history that William D. Slider has established throughout the years. Here is some information regarding physical forms:
Parents fill out the following portion of the physical form and both student/parents sign the bottom highlighted section of the physical:
PREPARTICIPATION PHYSICAL EVALUATION -- MEDICAL HISTORY
Coach Gustavo Hernandez fills out the
For School Use Only: portion on the front of the physical
Coach Hernandez will also be responsible for uploading all physicals (we will make copies and give them back to students)
Doctor fills out the following portion of the physical form:
PREPARTICIPATION PHYSICAL EVALUATION -- PHYSICAL EXAMINATION
Rank One Sports Documentation
If a student has never participated in athletic team activities, parents will have to create a Rank One Sports account. If a child has participated in athletic team activities, parents will need to update their RankOne account. There are two separate signatures that need to be signed electronically. Rankone one will give you confirmation of the signatures. It may ask you to upload the physical, but you will be unable to do so. Only Coach Hernandez will be able to upload the physical to complete Rank One clearance.
Again, please remember, students must have their physical on file and that the Rank One online documentation must be filled out. If any part of the Rank one documentation is not complete the student will not be allowed to participate in or even tryout for any sports. I hope this helps and if you should have any questions, please feel free to contact me at gherna20@sisd.net
Again, this only pertains to students that will be an upcoming 7th and/or 8th grader this 2025-26 school year.
***Softball and soccer for both boys and girls will start off our athletic year by holding a meeting with any interested student athlete on Monday August 4th. They will discuss team rules, practice procedures, and give information regarding tryouts. Any student athlete interested in playing baseball will need to bring shorts, caps, cleats/tennis shoes as they will begin their tryouts on Monday with some conditioning drills. Coaches will again go over tryout expectations.
***Boys’ baseball and soccer will be play their first game versus the Eastlake Middle Falcons at Montwood High School Saturday, August 9th. Girls’ soccer and softball will be on the road and play Eastlake Middle School at Eastlake Middle School on August 9th as well.
