Our Slider athletics coaches hope everyone had an amazing winter break. As we begin the second semester of our 2025-2026 school year, we wanted to update everyone regarding basketball tryouts for our 7th and 8th grade students. Tryouts will begin on Monday January 5, 2026. Here is a breakdown of the schedule:
7th and 8th grade Girls basketball
Monday Jan 5th: Arrive by 3:45 pmoutside Slider gym
Girls will begin tryouts from 3:45-5:40 inside the Slider gym
Tuesday Jan 6th: Arrive by 3:45 pmoutside Slider main door entrance
Day 2 of tryouts in the Slider cafeteria 3:45-5:40
Wednesday Jan 7th: Tryouts start right after school at 3:45
Day 3 of tryouts, Girls continue tryouts from 3:45-5:40 inside the Slider gym
7th and 8th grade Boys Basketball
Monday Jan 5th: Arrive by 5:30 outside gym
Boys will begin tryouts from 5:45-7:40 inside the Slider gym
Tuesday Jan 6th: Arrive by 3:45 outside gym
Day 2 of tryouts in the Slider gym from 3:45-5:40
Wednesday Jan 7th: TBD, will be announced after tryout day 2
Day 3 of tryouts time and location TBD

We are excited to announce that Slider will be hosting its annual Showcase on Tuesday, December 9, 2025, from 4:30 PM to 6:30 PM. This event is open to all rising sixth graders who plan to attend Slider for the 2026-2027 school year.
We warmly invite our future Stallions from Helen Ball, O'Shea, and Benito Martinez Elementary Schools to join us for an informative and engaging experience. The Showcase will highlight all the campus courses, clubs, organizations, athletics, and UIL activities we have to offer.
William D. Slider Middle School is an “A” rated campus with all 7 State Distinctions.

Good afternoon Stallions, we are looking forward to welcoming our families who purchased tickets to our Thanksgiving luncheon on Thursday, November 13, 2025.
Please note that there will be no ticket or plate sales at the door, all tickets and plates had to be purchased in advanced.
All guests must have a valid ID and copy of their receipt handy. Failure to present an ID or receipt will not allow you entry into our campus.
6th grade lunch is from 11:22 am to 11:52 am.
7th grade lunch is from 12:10 pm to 12:40 pm.
8th grade lunch is from 12:58 pm to 1:28 pm.
We ask that you arrive a few moments early, as we will be checking for receipts and ID's and expecting a large crowd.
Should you have any questions, please contact us at 915-937-5400.

Good morning Stallions, today is Veteran's day and we want to thank those who served for your service. Tomorrow, Wednesday, November 12th is our 8th grade panoramic picture day. Dress attire for all 8th grade students is school uniform, attire for all faculty and staff is black pants and blue Slider polo shirt. Please refer to the attached flier for additional details about picture purchase.

I’m excited to let you know that the Free Dress Pass student ID cards are now for sale! The November free dress pass is valid from November 1st through December 5th, an extra week was granted due to being off for Thanksgiving week.
You can purchase your free dress cards during lunch, starting October 30th through November 7th, with the help of our wonderful parent volunteers.
Please remember to adhere to the dress code: no torn jeans, slippers, pajamas, leggings, yoga pants, short shorts, or clogs are allowed. Each student must have their free dress pass with them at all times. Failure to present the card may result in a dress code infraction, and please note that there will not be replacement cards issued for lost or stolen passes.
