Dear Stallion Community,
As we continue to prepare for the closing of the 2024-2025 school year, we want to inform you that backpacks will no longer be allowed on campus beginning Tuesday, May 27, 2025. Students will still need to bring a notebook they can carry along with a writing device.
We also want to remind parents and guardians that attendance accountability is important through the last day of school for all classes, periods one through eight. We have a few students who are just one or two absences away from receiving a loss of credit contract and may have to make up hours owed to the campus. To avoid this situation, we need all Stallions to attend school daily and for all classes.
Thank you for your attention to these important matters. Let’s finish the school year strong!

Good afternoon Stallion community,
I hope this message finds you well.
We want to inform you that we are currently experiencing some issues with our air conditioning system inside our gymnasium. As a result, we will be moving our choir, band, and orchestra end-of-year concerts to Montwood High School.
The schedule is as follows:
- On Monday, May 19th, the choir concert will be held in the blue gymnasium and will begin at 6 PM.
- On Wednesday, May 21st and Thursday, May 22nd, the band and orchestra concerts will be held inside the Montwood High School theatre at 6 PM.
We will provide additional information through our fine arts directors.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us at 915-937-5400.
Thank you for your understanding and support.

Dear 6th Grade Families,
We are excited to remind you that our 6th grade field trip is this Wednesday, May 21st, from 9 AM to 1 PM. We will be going to see the El Paso Chihuahuas!
Please ensure that all students wear a school shirt or a Chihuahuas jersey. Shorts are permitted as long as they adhere to our regular school dress code. Note that no outside food or drinks are allowed into the stadium, but one sealed bottle of water is permitted. Lunch will be provided; however, students are welcome to bring extra cash for food, beverages, and souvenirs.
We kindly ask that students attending the field trip do not bring backpacks. The stadium has a clear bag policy that allows bags no larger than 12 by 6 by 12 inches.
Thank you so much for your support!

2025-2026 Slider Athletics Forms
Dear soon to be 7th/8th grade Slider Stallion's parents/students,
My name is Gustavo Hernandez, and I am the athletic coordinator here at William D. Slider Middle School. We wanted to welcome our upcoming student athletes who will be partaking in the rich athletic history that William D. Slider has established throughout the years. Please be aware that all students must have a physical form on file and that their Rank one online sports documentation must be completed for a student to take part in 7th and 8th grade sports. Without the completion of these two items, students will not be allowed to participate in or tryout for any athletic sport. We are attaching the physical form and the instructions to complete the rank one sports online documentation. All physicals (except for cheerleading) must be dated after May 1, 2025. Physical paperwork is valid for ALL sports during the 2025-2026 school year. When both portions of the physical are completed, they will be turned into Coach Hernandez in room 211 and he will upload the physical and clear students for participation. Here is some information regarding physical forms:
Parents fill out the following portion of the physical form and both student/parents sign the bottom highlighted section of the physical:
PREPARTICIPATION PHYSICAL EVALUATION -- MEDICAL HISTORY
Coach Gustavo Hernandez fills out the
For School Use Only: portion on the front of the physical
Coach Hernandez will also be responsible for uploading all physicals (we will make copies and give them back to students)
Doctor fills out the following portion of the physical form:
PREPARTICIPATION PHYSICAL EVALUATION -- PHYSICAL EXAMINATION
May 16, 2025- As a way to help our community, Slider Middle School will be providing physicals from 1:30 to 4:00 pm. Physicals will be $20 cash and will be performed by Del Norte Chiropractic. Students will be called out by grade level and will go to the gym. Coach Hernandez, as well as the other coaches, will be at the gym to ensure all goes well. Parents do not have to be present for the physical. As long as the student brings the proper paperwork, they will be able to complete the physical portion.
Rank One Sports Documentation
If a student has never participated in athletic team activities, parents will have to create a Rank One Sports account. If a child has participated in athletic team activities, parents will need to update their RankOne account. There are two separate signatures that need to be signed electronically. Rankone one will give you confirmation of the signatures. It may ask you to upload the physical but you will be unable to do so. Only Coach Hernandez will be able to upload the physical to complete Rank One clearance.
Again, please remember, students must have their physical on file and that the Rank One online documentation must be filled out. If any part of the Rank one documentation is not complete the student will not be allowed to participate in or even tryout for any sports. I hope this helps and if you should have any questions, please feel free to contact me at gherna20@sisd.net
Again, this only pertains to students that will be an upcoming 7th and/or 8th grader this 2025-26 school year.
Baseball, softball, and soccer for both boys and girls will start off our athletic year. Team meetings will begin in early August and will be held after school. Tryouts will begin the first day we come back from school in early August.
Thank you,
Gustavo Hernandez

Slider MS will be hosting a sports meeting for 6th graders moving up into the 7th grade for the upcoming 2025-2026 school year. We will discuss all the required paperwork and expectations for students moving up from 6th grade to the 7th grade. We understand that some parents may have questions regarding the process for students to compete athletically in school sports, and I will be there to answer any questions.
Date April 30, 2025, starting at 5:45 p.m.
At: William D. Slider Cafeteria
Who: Any current 6th grader who will be a 7th grader for the upcoming 2025-2026 School year that is interested in playing sports
We will be discussing the upcoming sports schedules along with student/parent expectations (parent/guardian must attend). We will inform our Stallion community about how tryouts will be conducted and give information regarding practices. This meeting will allow parents/guardians the opportunity to get to know the coaches and receive answers to any questions they may have.
Parents will be provided with information regarding the completion of a physical form (front and back) and be introduced to the Rankone online documentation system. Students will not be allowed on the field/court without these two requirements being met. Physicals will allow students to participate in all extracurricular sports for the entire 2025-2026 school year. Again, students will not be allowed to practice without physical being on file and rank one paperwork being completed.
You may print out a physical form or pick one up at William D. Slider. Physical forms will be provided on the day of the meeting as will rank one instruction.
We look forward to seeing you.
