Eastlake High School proudly announced the appointment of JB Frontz as its new permanent head football coach and athletic coordinator on Jan. 8, marking the beginning of a new chapter for the program. He becomes the third head football coach in the school's 16-year history.
Following the announcement in the school’s gymnasium, students cheered and chanted his name. Frontz previously served as the interim head coach and successfully led the Falcons to the 6A playoffs in 2025.
“For them to feel that way makes me feel good, makes me feel like I'm doing the things that I'm supposed to do to show up for them. And that won't stop. I'll continue to show up for them,” Frontz said. “I'll continue to be what they need. I'll continue to be the bridge to make sure that they're successful no matter what.”
Before serving as interim head coach, he was Eastlake’s offensive coordinator. Additionally, he will assume the role of the school’s athletic director and will oversee all athletic programs.
“Coach Frontz brings a proven record of leadership and a philosophy centered on strong family values, accountability and a relentless pursuit of growth,” Eastlake High School Principal Gilbert Martinez said during the announcement. “Known for his consistency and commitment, he shows up every day ready to lead by example, never settling for complacency and always striving for improvement.”
Eleventh grader Jose Ezekiel Herrera, the Falcons' running back, was ecstatic to hear that Frontz had been named the permanent head coach. He looked forward to strengthening the bond they had formed over the past three years.
“With him, I have all the confidence of the world that we can go out, we can win district, and we can have probably a nice run in the Texas state playoffs,” Herrera said.
Zaid Rangel, a junior linebacker, said he was happy to have Frontz coaching the team next year.
“No matter what happens, even if our backs are against the wall, he'll always be there for us no matter what happens,” Rangel said.
