Salvador H. Sanchez Middle School has been recognized by the American School Counselor Association (ASCA) as a 2025-2026 Recognized ASCA Model Program (RAMP), honoring the school’s exemplary counseling program. It is the only school counseling program in Texas, and the only one in the Socorro Independent School District, to earn this prestigious designation.
The RAMP designation is awarded to schools that demonstrate an exemplary, data-driven, and comprehensive school counseling program aligned with the ASCA National Model framework. It honors schools committed to improving student outcomes in academic, career and social-emotional development.
Elizabeth Nuñez-Quintana, the school’s counselor, said that earning the RAMP designation meant the campus had strong systems, consistent support, and a counseling program aligned with best practices.
“Our students know they are receiving proven, effective services that help them grow, succeed, and thrive—both in school and beyond. This recognition also highlights our commitment to equitable access, targeted interventions, measurable outcomes, and a counseling program built to remove barriers and support the whole child,” Nuñez-Quintana said.
The school will be recognized at the RAMP Recognition Dinner on July 13 during the ASCA Annual Conference in New Orleans, La.
RAMP designation is valid for five years. After this period, schools must reapply to maintain their RAMP status.
The ASCA National Model is a framework for school counseling programs that emphasizes data-informed decision-making, systematic program delivery, and a focus on student achievement, attendance, and discipline. RAMP demonstrates to administrators, school boards, families, and the community that the school is committed to supporting the school's mission and the success of its students.
