The Socorro Independent School District earned state and national recognition in 2026 for communications, marketing and public relations work supporting students, employees, campuses and districtwide initiatives.
The Socorro ISD Public Relations team received 14 honors in the National School Public Relations Association awards program in June 2026 for work in publications, digital media, writing, photography, video and strategic communications.
Among the recognitions, Socorro ISD received a Golden Achievement Award for the Elite Enrollment Campaign, which supported the district’s broader work to strengthen student recruitment and retention.
The Elite Enrollment initiative was a collaborative effort, with a cross-functional committee led by the district Administrative Services team developing and implementing strategies alongside the Public Relations team. The award recognized the strategic communications, marketing and engagement work that supported those efforts.
The Golden Achievement Award recognizes exemplary strategic work in school public relations, communications, marketing and engagement.
Socorro ISD also received eight NSPRA Awards of Excellence for work including the district annual report, recognition events and campaigns, photography, writing and videos highlighting the accomplishments and experiences of SISD students and employees.
“Our Public Relations team plays an important role in celebrating our students and employees, keeping our community informed and supporting the work taking place across Socorro ISD,” said Superintendent James Vasquez. “I am proud to see their work recognized by their peers at the state and national levels, and I appreciate the collaboration of the many departments, campuses and employees whose work and stories make these efforts possible.”
Earlier in the year, the Texas School Public Relations Association also recognized Socorro ISD communications work through its annual Star Awards program. The district received Best of Category, Gold, Silver and Bronze Star Awards, along with recognition as a Crystal Commendation finalist and Platinum Award finalist.
Each year, NSPRA recognizes individuals, programs and projects that demonstrate excellence and impact in school communications and public relations.
TSPRA’s annual Star Awards recognizes outstanding work by communications professionals in school districts, education foundations, associations and other education organizations across Texas.
