In spring 2026, numerous students from the Socorro Independent School District’s Class of 2026 signed national letters of intent to compete at the collegiate level, committing to Division I programs in sports like football and volleyball while excelling academically and athletically.
These graduates have achieved remarkable success and are now embarking on new opportunities this fall at universities and colleges across the nation.
Americas High School
Isaiah Alferez, football, signed his letter of intent with New Mexico Highlands University.
Anabella Escobar, soccer, signed her letter of intent with New Mexico Highlands University.
Isabelle Garcia, softball, signed her letter of intent with Odessa College.
Andrew Gonzalez, baseball, signed his letter of intent with Texas Tech University.
Andres Hernandez, baseball, signed his letter of intent with El Paso Community College.
Cam’Ron Johnson, football, signed his letter of intent with Western Colorado University.
Kylie Marquez, basketball, signed her letter of intent with New Mexico Highlands University.
Miley Rodriguez, softball, signed her letter of intent with El Paso Community College.
Kheo Cortez, a cheerleader, signed his letter of intent with the University of Texas at El Paso. Cortez was a welding program officer, a Triple A recipient and an Americas High School cheer captain.
Kayla Favela, a track and field athlete, signed her letter of intent with Newberry College. She was a sprinter on the track team and a three-year varsity track and field athlete. She won the Triple A Award in 2024 for track and field and in 2026 for the Libertas Academy for project-based research. She was a regional qualifier in 2025 and 2026 and an area qualifier in 2024, 2025 and 2026. She was part of the back-to-back 2-5A Varsity Girls Track and Field District Champion team and helped set new Americas High School girls track and field records in the 4x100 meter relay, 4x200 meter relay and the 4x400 meter relay.
Jayden Mendivil, a track and field athlete, signed his letter of intent with Chapman University, where he will be pursuing a degree Creative Producing and Business Entrepreneurship. He participated in sprints, decathlon, and javelin on the track team. Mendivil earned the 2023 Football Team Character Award, was selected for the 2024 District 1-5A 1st Team-All Academic Football Team and 2024 District 1-5A Honorable Mention Quarterback All-District Football Team. He earned 2023 Skills USA Digital Cinema Production 3rd Place Regional Award, 2024 Skills USA Digital Cinema Production 1st Place Regional Award and was a State Qualifier. He also earned 2025 Skills USA Digital Cinema Production 1st Place Regional Award and was a State Qualifier. Mendivil also was a 2024 and 2025 Track and Field Area Qualifier and 2026 Track and Field Area and Regional Qualifier. He won the 2026 Track and Field Male Award and the 2025-2026 School Year All Americas Boy Award. He is a one-year varsity football letterman and a three-year varsity track and field letterman.
Vianney Nunez, a soccer player, signed her letter of intent with Cochise College. She played defense for the Americas Trailblazers.
Dante Ortega, a soccer player, signed his letter of intent with Tabor College. He is a soccer fullback who helped advance the team to the state playoffs Final Four game two times.
Solé Sebree, a volleyball player, signed her letter of intent with Des Moines Area Community College. Sebree was a setter on the volleyball team and studied in the Libertas Academy at Americas High School.
Eastlake High School
Mia Carrasco, a volleyball player, signed her letter of intent with Austin Peay State University.
“I’m feeling excited and I’m very grateful that God gave me this opportunity to sign today and that it’s with my parents and my coach,” Carrasco said.
Jacob Negron, a football player, signed his letter of intent with Lakeland University.
“I’m excited. I think as a kid, this has always been something that I wanted to do to go play college at the next level. So, like, to come and sign is just a dream come true,” Negron said.
Anthony Ortiz, a baseball player, signed his letter of intent with Abilene Christian University.
“It’s an exciting moment for me and all these athletes here. It’s pretty surreal to be able to go play D1 baseball at the next level, and I’m pretty confident in myself that I worked hard for what I love to do,” Ortiz said.
Amerie Rodarte-Clemente, a volleyball player, signed her letter of intent with Ranger College. Rodarte-Clemente earned two varsity letters and helped her team capture two district championships, two bi-district titles and two area championships. Additionally, she was named to the 1-6A 1st Team All-District in both 2025 and 2026 and received Honorable Mention honors on the 2026 El Paso Times All-City Volleyball Team.
Aria Alvarez, a track and field sprinter, signed her letter of intent with the University of Texas at El Paso, where she plans to study psychology. Alvarez is a 2nd Team All-District athlete in the 200-meter dash and 1st Team All-District in the 4x200-meter relay. She has qualified for both area and regional competitions in the 4x200-meter relay and holds the school record in the 200-meter and 400-meter dashes.
“First, I’d like to thank the entire Eastlake track program for years of teamwork, commitment and motivation. My first choice has been UTEP. To be able to stay in my hometown, attend school and continue competing is a blessing. I am incredibly grateful to the UTEP track coaches for granting me this opportunity. Picks up!” Alvarez said.
Hailey-Sky Atilano, a volleyball player, signed her letter of intent with Ranger College, where she plans to study nursing. Atilano has been a four-year varsity starter and has earned recognition as a three-time All-District Middle. She has been part of two district championship teams, three bi-district championship teams, and three area championship teams. Additionally, she is a two-time All-District selection.
“Signing an athletic scholarship to continue playing the sport I love is not just a dream come true, but it is also an opportunity to further my education both academically and in life. This sport has taken me places and shown me things that one cannot easily learn in a classroom. Comradery, the value of hard work, the importance of dedication, and lasting friendships have all come on the volleyball court. I am fortunate and thankful that those lessons will continue on the college level,” Atilano said.
Vanneaya Nieves, track and field discus and shot-put thrower, signed her letter of intent with the University of Texas at El Paso, where she plans to study nursing. Nieves is a district and area champion and remained undefeated during her senior season. She finished fourth at the regional round and currently holds the school record in discus. Academically, she is ranked eighth in her class and is a member of Falcon Early College High School.
Braeden Quigley, a basketball player, signed his letter of intent with Cochise College, where he plans to major in general studies. Quigley’s accolades include being named the El Paso Times Player of the Year. He was also recognized as the 1-6A District Most Valuable Player and earned a spot on the TABC All-Region Team and was a two-time member of the 1-6A 1st Team All-District. Additionally, he has been named Academic All-State by TABC three times and Academic All-District three times. Quigley ranks in the top 10% of his class and is published in the district's Literary Anthology.
“First off, none of this would’ve been possible without God. I want to thank all my parents for their support and for being the foundation behind it all. Without you all, I would not be who I am as a person. Next, thank you, Paris Wall, for helping me ascend from a kid who couldn’t lift a paperweight to someone who was able to dominate the physical aspects of the game. Thank you to my West Texas Blazers Coach Mathew Taylor for really introducing me to the game of basketball and walking me through the whole journey. You established the worker's mindset, the drive to strive and get better, which ultimately got me to where I am today. Lastly, thank you to Coach Carillo and Coach Lane for the opportunity to play at the next level. Go Apaches!,” Quigley said.
Delilah Castro, a track and field jumper and hurdler, signed her letter of intent with the U.S. Coast Guard Academy, where she plans to study civil engineering. Castro is a district champion and an area qualifier in the triple jump, as well as an area qualifier in the long jump and the 100-meter hurdles. She holds the school records for the triple jump, long jump, 100-meter hurdles, and 300-meter hurdles. Academically, she has a 98 GPA and ranks in the top 10% of her class. Additionally, she is a member of the school choir and the tennis team.
“I am deeply honored to have received a full-ride scholarship to go into the U.S. Coast Guard Academy. I am excited to see the new beginnings and opportunities I will have. Go Bears!” Castro said.
Elijah Fuentes, a track and field hurdler, signed his letter of intent with Mt. San Antonio College, where he plans to study computer science. Fuentes is an Area qualifier in the 110-meter hurdles, 300-meter hurdles and high jump. He also holds the record for the 110-meter hurdles.
“I am beyond blessed and grateful for my offer to Mt. San Antonio College. This has been the goal since day one, and I’m glad I can say I accomplished this part of my life. I have to thank God, my family, and my coaches for all being with me through this journey. I can’t wait to step into this next chapter of my life,” Fuentes said.
Maksim Lares, a basketball point guard and shooting guard, signed his letter of intent with West Texas Preparatory Academy, where he plans to study nursing. Lares helped win back-to-back bi-district championships in 2025 and 2026, a district runner-up finish in 2024-2025 and a district championship in 2026. He also received TABC Academic All-State honors and was named to the 2nd Team All-District.
“I want to say thank you to the Lord. All of this is not possible without him. Thank you to my mom, my dad, my trainers like Coach Paris and my head coach, Matthew Taylor. To my sister and my brother, thank you. Thank you to all my supporters throughout my life and high school seasons,” Lares said.
Nicholas Irigoyen, a soccer center midfielder, signed his letter of intent with McMurry University, where he plans to major in sports management and leadership. Irigoyen was named a 6A 2025-2026 1st Team All-District player and received an All-District Honorable Mention in 2024-2025. He also participated in the 2026 Prep 1 All-Star Soccer Showcase and the GEPFS All-Star Game as a kicker.
“Signing for my athletic scholarship makes me feel very proud and grateful for the opportunity to play the sport I love and adore at the next level,” Irigoyen said.
Leylani Bernal, a soccer goalkeeper, signed her letter of intent with Oklahoma Panhandle State University, where she plans to study criminal justice. Bernal received a 1-6A District Honorable Mention in 2022-2023 and was a member of the 1-6A 1st Team All-District. She earned the 2025-2026 Team Coaches Choice Award and served as team captain from 2024 to 2026. She also was named to the 2025-2026 TASCO All-Academic Team.
“Signing my athletic scholarship was overwhelming in the best way. I am deeply grateful to everyone who supported me – my family, coaches, teammates, and teachers. I am proud of the athlete I have become, and this moment shows that dreams come true when you stay disciplined. Thank you for believing in me,” Bernal said.
Nicole Quiñonez, a soccer goalkeeper, signed her letter of intent with the University of Texas Permian Basin, where she plans to study biology. Quiñonez was named 1-6A District Goalkeeper Most Valuable Player in 2022-2023 and was named to the TASCO All-Academic Team in 2025-2026.
“I am extremely grateful and excited for the opportunity to continue my academic and athletic career at UTPB. Playing college soccer has always been my goal, and I am thankful for my coaches, teammates, friends and family who supported me throughout this journey,” Quiñonez said.
Ezia Acosta, a baseball pitcher, signed his letter of intent with Shoreline Community College, where he plans to study mechanics. Acosta is a three-year letterman and has contributed to two playoff appearances for Eastlake baseball. He has also completed the district's automotive program.
“I’m feeling excited to get out there and represent El Paso at such a far college. I’m excited to go play ball and continue my academic career as well,” Acosta said.
Nahomy Ojeda, a soccer midfielder, signed her letter of intent with New Mexico Highlands University, where she plans to major in criminal justice.
Deina Reyes, a soccer midfielder, signed her letter of intent with Paul Quinn College, where she plans to major in business administration. Reyes was named to the 1-6A District 1st Team in 2024-2025 and to the 1-6A District 2nd Team in 2025-2026. She served as the 2025-2026 team captain and was selected to the 2025-2026 TASCO All-Academic Team.
“I am excited that I will be signing to play at Paul Quinn College. I am grateful to my parents and to everyone who played an important role in my development as a player and as a student,” Reyes said.
Alana Drayton, a basketball forward, signed her letter of intent with North Central University, where she plans to study psychology. Drayton was named a Senior All-Star by the Greater El Paso Girls Coaches Association and earned a spot on the 1-6A District 2nd Team in 2024-2025 and 2025-2026. Additionally, she was recognized as an Eastlake Shootout All-Star in 2025-2026. Drayton has been selected to the Academic All-District team three times and was also recognized by the Texas Girls Coaches Association as an Academic All-State player.
“I am very blessed with this opportunity to play at the next level. It’s a huge accomplishment for me and my parents. I’m excited to see what God has in store for me these next few years, and I pray that I continue to be successful and down the right path, not just in basketball but in life,” Drayton said.
Karina Ramos-Jurado, a basketball point guard, signed her letter of intent with Neosho County Community College, where she plans to study forensic science. Ramos-Jurado was named a Senior All-Star by the Greater El Paso Girls Coaches Association. She earned a spot on the 1-6A 1st Team All-District in 2025-2026 and was selected for the 2nd Team All-District in 2024-2025 and 2023-2024. She earned an El Paso Times All-City Honorable Mention in 2025-2026 and was named Defensive MVP in 2026. She also received 1-6A District All-Academic honors in 2024-2025 and 2025-2026.
“I feel very blessed to get the opportunity I have. I am grateful for everyone who helped me get to this point and kept me going. Overall, I am very excited for the next step in my life to grow as a person on and off the court,” Ramos-Jurado said.
El Dorado High School
Mia Davis, a softball pitcher, signed her letter of intent with Arizona Western College, where she plans to study political science. Davis was named to the First Team All-District and twice to the Second Team All-District. She has a GPA of 3.8.
“I’m super grateful for my next chapter in my life and can’t wait to start it,” Davis said.
Nevaeh Matsuda, a softball outfielder, signed her letter of intent with Texas A&M International University, where she plans to study kinesiology. Matsuda has played varsity for four years and earned a 1-6A Honorable Mention in 2024 and a 5A Honorable Mention in 2025. Additionally, she was selected to the 6A All-District Academic team in 2023 and 2024, and to the 5A All-District Academic team in 2025. Matsuda has a 4.0 GPA and is class president.
“Being given this opportunity means more than the world to me. Ever since I started playing softball, I’ve had the dream to continue to play at the collegiate level. I can’t help but just feel so grateful and happy,” Matsuda said.
Vanessa Triana, a softball middle infielder and pitcher, signed her letter of intent with El Paso Community College, where she plans to study accounting. Triana is a two-time Second Team All-District selection and a three-time member of the All-Academic Team. She is currently enrolled at Empire Early College High School and is expected to graduate with her associate degree in May.
“I am very grateful to be signing with EPCC and beginning a new chapter in my athletic and academic career. Thank you, Coach Aubree, Coach Cierra, and Coach Javi, for giving me this opportunity and giving me a home. I'm excited to see what's in the future and am full of gratitude. Thank you for coming and supporting me and my teammates in this milestone,” Triana said.
Giulianna Robali, a soccer player, will sign her letter of intent with Morton College, where she plans to study nursing. Robali was a varsity captain and defensive player for the team. She was selected for the Prep 1 All-Star Game in 2026 and was a DPL National Champion with G08 El Paso Surf in 2025. She is in the top 25 percent of her class with a 4.0 GPA, the NHS parliamentarian, AVID treasurer and a graduate of the Empire Early College.
“Words cannot express my gratitude for signing my athletic scholarship. This scholarship is a testament to the years of love and dedication that I’ve put into this incredible sport. I am so thankful for my family, my teammates, and my coaches for pushing me and helping me see that I could do it. And special thanks to Coach Bisgrove from Morton College for giving me the opportunity to play at the next level. I am extremely excited for this next chapter, and I couldn’t have done it without all the support around me,” Robali said.
Ivy Tarango, a soccer midfielder and forward, will sign her letter of intent with Paul Quinn College, where she plans to study criminal justice. Tarango was selected for the first team all-district 2025 and 2026 and for the Prep 1 All-Star game. She was a four-year varsity starter and a two-year varsity captain. She is on the A/B honor roll.
“I am very happy and grateful for the opportunity to continue my athletic and academic career at the next level. Signing my athletic scholarship was a very special moment for me because it showed that all my hard work and dedication paid off. I appreciate all the support from my family, coaches, teammates, and teachers who helped me reach this goal, and I am excited for this next chapter in my journey,” Tarango said.
Leilani Gaborno, a main base and tumbler cheerleader, will sign her letter of intent with St. Mary’s University, where she plans to study criminology. Gaborno earned Cheer MVP and Female Athlete of the Year (2022). Other cheer accomplishments include MCDA Division Champion, High Point Champion with Fierce Titans Allstar, and Cheersport Grand Champion. She also served as a Prep 1 Athlete and represented El Dorado Cheer at the Greater El Paso Football Showcase. With 9 collegiate cheer offers, she committed to St. Mary’s University Cheer and Stunt Team in San Antonio. She won back-to-back 1st Place District Wedding Cake Design titles through El Dorado High School’s culinary arts program and qualified for state competitions. She has maintained a GPA of over 3.0, received Perfect Attendance awards, and was recognized as one of the Top 10 Scholarship Earners.
“Signing with St. Mary’s University means so much to me. This moment represents years of hard work, sacrifice, and dedication both academically and athletically. I’m incredibly grateful to my family, coaches, teammates, teachers, and everyone who supported me throughout this journey. I’m proud to represent El Dorado High School and excited to continue my academic and cheer career at St. Mary’s University,” Gaborno said.
Alannah Rabb, a third base softball player, will sign her letter of intent with Johnson C. Smith University, where she plans to study biomedical sciences. Rabb’s athletic accomplishments include: 2025 All district 2nd team, 2024 1-6A All Academic Team (GPA of 90 or above), 2025 2-5A 2nd Team All-District, 2025 2-5A Top Three Record for Stolen Bases, 2025 Bi-District Playoff Qualifier, set school and personal record for female deadlift - 375 pounds, Player of the Week (numerous awards), Outstanding Athletic Achievement Award, Golden Glove Award (2022-2023 season), 2026 Bi-District and Area Playoff Qualifiers, and 2026 Bi-District Champions. She is an International Baccalaureate scholar and a member of the Gifted & Talented program. Rabb has consistently been named on the honor roll and has earned several academic achievement awards.
“In high school, I met many people that became like family to me on the way of accomplishing my dream of playing at the next level. I made memories that I will never forget. Now it's time to make more memories I will never forget with people I will meet playing in college,” Rabb.
Rahsan Bryant, a wide receiver football player, will sign his letter of intent with Lakeland University, where he plans to study pre-med to pursue a career as a sports medicine physician. Byant is a district and bi-district champion and was named to the first team all-district. He achieved 765 yards, 28 receptions and 13 touchdowns during his athletic career at El Dorado. He also is on the A/B honor roll.
“I feel excited about being able to still play the sport I love and ready for the competition,” Bryant said.
Adrian Olivas, a linebacker on the football team, will sign his letter of intent with Sul Ross State University, where he plans to study business administration. Olivas was named 2025 Great El Paso All Star Player, 2025 Great El Paso, All Star Defensive MVP, 2025 1-5A Defensive Athlete of The Year, 2025 1-5A First Team All-District Wide Receiver, 2024 1-5A Offensive Athlete of The Year, and 2024 1-5A First Team Linebacker Of The Year. He also earned a business management certification.
“This opportunity is a blessing and represents years of dedication and perseverance. I’m honored to sign and continue playing the sport I love while pursuing my education,” Olivas.
Gael Dominguez, a catcher on the baseball team, will sign his letter of intent with Sul Ross State University, where he plans to study finance/marketing. Dominguez earned 2025 Honorable Mention All-District and he was part of the Sparta Business Academy.
“It’s a blessing, and I wouldn’t have been able to make it this far without everyone who supports me,” Dominguez said.
Montwood High School
Vianney Adame, a soccer player, signed her letter of intent with Blinn College, where she plans to study construction management.
“Dreams turned reality. Very grateful for this opportunity. Now it’s time to work even harder and prove I belong at the next level,” Adame.
Damian Briano, a football player, signed his letter of intent with Bethany College, where he plans to study business management. Briano’s accolades include being named to the 2nd Team All-District as a quarterback for the 2024-25 season, the 1st Team All-District as a quarterback for the 2025-26 season, being selected as a GEPFS All-Star in 2025-26, and earning All-Star MVP.
“Can’t thank my parents, coaches and God enough for this opportunity to continue playing football and pursuing a college degree,” Briano said.
Leyla Clark, a volleyball player, signed her letter of intent with New Mexico Military Institute, where she plans to study business. Leyla’s accomplishments include being a varsity letter player for three years, a track letter runner for two years, and receiving the Shannus Bennet Award in 2025. She was also named MVP of the Frenship tournament in 2025, earned first team all-district honors in 2025, received an honorable mention on the all-city team in 2025 and is a top ten record holder in high jump at Montwood. Additionally, she is a two-time national qualifier.
“Grateful to be playing at the next level but wouldn’t be here without my family or coaches who stood by my side,” Clark said.
Adrian Cortinas, a football player, signed his letter of intent with Sul Ross State University, where he plans to study business. Cortinas’s accolades include being named 2nd Team All District WR for 2024-25 and 1st Team All District WR for 2025-26.
“Playing college football has been a huge dream for me, and it’s everything I’ve worked for. I’m thankful for everyone who’s helped in getting me here,” Cortinas said.
Jocelynn Custard, a basketball player, signed her letter of intent with Arlington Baptist University, where she plans to study sports marketing and biblical studies. Custard has earned several accolades, including being named the 2026 El Paso Times Offensive Player of the Year, the District 1-6A MVP for the 2025-2026 season, a member of the TABC All-Region Team, the 1-6A All-District First Team for the 2024-2025 season and a GEPCA All-Star Selection.
"I am excited to play at the next level against different competition. I am ready to see where God leads me and play basketball at a totally different pace,” Custard.
Leilani Famaligi, a volleyball player, signed her letter of intent with Sul Ross State University, where she plans to study kinesiology. Famaligi’s accolades include graduating from Rams Early College, being a member of the National Technical Honor Society and the National Honor Society, participating in DECA and ranking in the Top 10% of her graduating class.
“I am extremely excited to continue my volleyball career at the collegiate level and grateful for all the people who helped me get to this point. Thank you to all my coaches and teammates who believed in me and pushed me to be better. Thank you to my parents for giving me the opportunity to play and for being by my side. Finally, I want to thank God for all the blessing to play volleyball and everything that has come with it,” Famaligi said.
Julian Franco, track & field, signed his letter of intent with the University of Texas El Paso, where he plans to study business. Franco's achievements include being a two-year varsity letterman in cross country and track, earning 1-6A Academic All-District recognition in cross country, and being named to the 1-6A Second Team All-District in cross country. He is also a two-time Montwood Cross Country MVP and a Rams Early College Graduate from EPCC.
“I'm very blessed to have the opportunity to compete at a high level, and especially for my hometown. I'm excited to see where this next chapter in my life leads me,” Franco said.
Mia Hairston, track & field, signed her letter of intent with the University of Texas El Paso, where she plans to study nursing. Her athletic achievements include being named to the All-City First Team for both cross country and basketball, as well as the All-District First Team for those sports. She is a member of the 1500 Point Club in basketball and has qualified regionally for the 800m in 2025. In cross country, she is a three-time regional qualifier and was recognized as the Milesplit Athlete of the Week in 2026. Additionally, she was honored as the Greater Texas Ford Athlete of the Month in August 2026. Academically, she serves on the Principal's Advisory Board and the Superintendent's Advisory Board. She is also a member of the National Honor Society (NHS), the Student Council (STUCO) as Class President for the Class of 2026, and is a graduate of the Rams Early College program at EPCC.
“I always thought my path would be as a collegiate basketball athlete; life had a different plan for me, and I'm very excited that I get to continue to grow as a runner in my hometown at UTEP. PICKS UP!!!,” Hairston said.
Deshaun King, a football player, signed his letter of intent with Western New Mexico University, where he plans to study business management. King earned a spot on the 2024 All-District 2nd Team and recognition as a 2025 All-District Honorable Mention and 2nd Team Academic All-State.
“Blessed to have the opportunity to represent the community and my family at the next level,” King said.
Joel Moreno, a football player, signed his letter of intent with Wayland Baptist University, where he plans to study criminal justice. Moreno was named 2nd Team All-District OL for the 2024-25 and 2025-26 seasons.
“I’m blessed to have been able to receive this opportunity to continue playing a sport I love and work towards a degree,” Moreno said.
Abbygail Muñoz, a soccer player, signed her letter of intent with Paul Quinn College, where she plans to focus on legal studies and criminology. She earned a 2024 All-District Honorable Mention and a spot on the 2025 All-District 1st Team.
“It feels so surreal that I am getting the opportunity to play at the next level. But really I’m so excited to move on and continue playing the sport that I love,” Muñoz said.
Isaiah Ortega, a baseball player, signed his letter of intent with the University of the Southwest.
“I am excited to be able to continue playing the sport I love, and look to further my education while playing baseball,” Ortega said.
Grace Ponzio, a softball player, signed her letter of intent with Lynn University, where she plans to study forensic investigations. Ponzio’s accolades include Newcomer of the Year in 2023, a spot on the All-City 1st Team in both 2023 and 2024, Defensive Player of the Year in 2024, and recognition on the 1st Team All District in 2025 as well as the All-City 2nd Team in 2025. Additionally, she has been named an Academic All-District honoree from 2023 to 2025.
“I look forward to the next level where competition pushes me to elevate every part of my game: my IQ, leadership, power, strength, and explosiveness. I want to be surrounded by people who challenge me daily, sharpening not only the player I am, but the person I am becoming,” Ponzio.
Jaeda Quiñones, a softball player, signed her letter of intent with Texas A&M University Kingsville, where she plans to study animal science. Quiñones’s accolades include being named to the 2nd Team All District in 2023 and the 1st Team All District in both 2024 and 2025, as well as the 2nd Team All District in 2025.
“My dream since I was a little girl was to play college softball, and now, I get to at the D2 level. I’m beyond blessed for the opportunity, but even more excited for the work and growth that is yet to come. At TAMUK, I look forward to taking all the new challenges head-on. My main goal for college softball is to make a name for myself out there as I have here at home. The new level of competition and diversity on and off the field will make me grow in every aspect of my life, and I look forward to seeing the difference it will make. See you soon, Kingsville!” Quiñones said.
Brooklyn Rodriguez, a flag football player, signed her letter of intent with McMurry University, where she plans to study studio arts. Rodriguez’s athletic accomplishments include being a two-time 1-6A All-District wrestler, earning the title of KTSM Student Athlete of the Week, and being the first recipient of the Female Flag Football Award Letter. In addition to her athletic achievements, Rodriguez serves as the President of the National Technical Honor Society and is a member of the National Honor Society. She was awarded third place in the Congressional Art Competition and maintains a 4.0 GPA. Furthermore, she was recognized as the Volunteer of the Year in the A A All the Way program and is a member of the Principal Advisory Committee.
“Everyone was right, these 4 years fly by when you’re having fun! Always live it up to the fullest and take every opportunity presented to you. You’ll never know where it will take you,” Rodriguez said.
Monserratt Royval, a volleyball player, signed her letter of intent with Southwestern Oregon College, where she plans to study criminal justice. Royval was named the Montwood High School Varsity Offensive MVP.
“I'm extremely excited and grateful for having the opportunity to play college volleyball, because it's been something that I had always wanted to achieve since the beginning of my volleyball journey,” Royval said.
Christian Schwantner, a football player, signed his letter of intent with Carroll University, where he plans to study exercise science to be a physical therapist. He earned spots on the 2024 All-District 2nd Team, 2025 All-District 1st Team, the 2025 Academic All-State 1st Team and GEPFS All-Star Team.
"It is an honor and blessing to be able to live out my dreams of playing college football while pursuing all levels of higher education at one place. I am beyond grateful for this opportunity,” Schwantner said.
Jantje Arellanes, a soccer player, signed his letter of intent with West Texas A&M University, where he plans to study biological science. Arellanes has been a varsity starter for four years and earned the Rookie of the Year award for the 2022-2023 season. He was recognized as a first-team all-district player for both the 2023-2024 and 2025-2026 seasons. He was a member of three consecutive bi-district championships and one area championship. Additionally, he served as a Synergi officer.
“Rock bottom will teach you more than the mountain top ever will,” Arellanes said.
Vida Conde, a wrestler, signed her letter of intent with Ottawa University, where she plans to study biology. Conde has been a one-year varsity athlete and earned recognition as a District Champion in the 190 lb weight class for the 2025-2026 season. She was also selected for the 1-6A All District team and the 1-6A All Region team, and she placed at the regionals in her weight class. Additionally, she is a recipient of the DECA Scholar Award.
“Wrestling has taught me what it is to sacrifice and charge obstacles head-on. I am grateful for the opportunity to continue with this sport that I fell in love with this year,” Conde said.
Katelyn Davalos, a soccer player, signed his letter of intent with Texas A&M – Texarkana , where she plans to study biology. Davalos earned All-District Honorable Mention, 2nd Team All-District, and 1st Team All-District, and she has served as team captain.
"The purest form of competition is to push, challenge and demand more from yourself,” said Davalos, quoting Gary Ryan.
Ramon Huerta, athletic trainer, signed his letter of intent with Texas Tech University, where he plans to study sports medicine. Huerta has been a member of the Athletic Training Team for three years, a two-year letterman in track and field and was selected as an El Paso All-Star Football Trainer.
“Being around sports and athletic training has opened my perspective on what it takes to be a fully functioning athlete. This is a way to stay involved and pursue something I am passionate about,” Huerta said.
Santiago Esparza Barajas, an athletic trainer, signed his letter of intent with Texas Tech University, where he plans to study sports medicine. Barajas was a member of the basketball team and is in the top 10 of his class for 2026.
“Dealing with an injury last year opened my eyes to the world of sports medicine. This is a great opportunity to pursue a career that intrigued me as a student-athlete,” Barajas said.
Daniel Mendez, a soccer player, signed his letter of intent with Futedu Academy in Valencia, Spain, where he plans to study engineering. Mendez is a two-time member of the bi-district championship team.
"Grateful for the chance to play at the next level," Mendez said.
Madison Reyes, a basketball player, signed her letter of intent with Southwestern Community College, where she plans to study kinesiology. Reyes is a two-year letterman and a member of the 2025-2026 district and bi-district championship teams.
"This journey has taught me true resilience, discipline and sacrifice. I'm blessed for the opportunity to continue my athletic career, excited for new challenges, and ready for the work,” Reyes said.
Gema Perales, a tennis player, signed her letter of intent with Hardin Simmons University, where she plans to study biology. Perales is a three-time District 1-6A Singles Finalist in Girls Singles and a two-time regional qualifier. She also placed fourth in the Region 1 Girls Singles competition in 2025 and has been named the SISD Girls MVP twice.
“I feel excited to play tennis at the next level because I believe it will continue to push me to grow as a person and tennis player, but at the same time I know that I am ready for the challenge. I've worked hard and sacrificed many things in the process, and it just feels nice to have this opportunity to once again prove myself on the court,” Perales said.
Nicolas Villalpando, a football player, signed his letter of intent with Sul Ross State University, where he plans to study kinesiology. Villalpando earned a 2025-26 1-6A Honorable Mention All-District Selection.
“This journey has taught me to continue to work hard even when no one is watching. At some point, the light will shine and lead you down the path you’re supposed to be on,” Villalpando said.
Pebble Hills High School
Anthony Ascencio, a football offensive lineman, signed his letter of intent with Cisco College, where he plans to study history and biology. Ascencio was named to the 1st Team All-District.
“All glory to God. I want to thank my parents for supporting me and our amazing coaching staff,” Ascencio said.
Christopher Cedillo, a swimmer, signed his letter of intent with West Virginia Wesleyan College, where he plans to study computer science and cybersecurity. Cedillo holds multiple school records, including the 100 Free, 200 Free, 200 Medley Relay, 200 Free Relay and 400 Free Relay. He is a 15-time medalist and currently maintains a 4.0 GPA.
“I am grateful for having such amazing coaches, friends, and family members that have pushed me and motivated me in my journey into becoming the best version of myself,” Cedillo said.
Jonathon Diego Martinez, a football cornerback, signed his letter of intent with Sul Ross State University, where he plans to study engineering. Martinez, the team captain, was named to the 1st Team All-District and 2nd Team All-City. His achievements include selection to the Greater El Paso Football Showcase, earning KTSM Overtime Baller of the Week, and recognition as the MaxPreps Defensive Player MVP and Overall MVP, as well as the El Paso Times Athlete of the Week. Additionally, he has been named to the All-State Academic Team three times and currently has a 4.0 GPA.
“Blessed to have the opportunity to continue playing to the next level and represent Pebble Hills High School, my family and everyone that supported me through football,” Martinez said.
Arturo Ortiz, a football left tackle, signed his letter of intent with Western New Mexico University, where he plans to study criminal justice. Ortiz received 10 college offers. He is in the Pebble Hills Early College pathway.
“All of the glory goes to God. It wouldn’t be possible without him,” Ortiz said.
Jelan Pacheco, a football defensive tackle, signed his letter of intent with Tyler Junior College, where he plans to study radiology. Pacheco is a three-year letterman. In 2025, he was named the 1-6A Defensive MVP and selected for the 1st-team defense.
“Time for bigger and better,” Pacheco said.
Christian Anthony Reyes, a football left guard/center/long snapper, signed his letter of intent with New Mexico Highlands University, where he plans to study exercise science. Reyes was named 1-6A 2nd Team All District and earned a 1-6A Honorable Mention. His accolades include selection to the Greater El Paso Football Showcase. He has been named to the All-State Academic team and currently maintains a 3.9 GPA. He received 40 college offers.
“Signing my athletic scholarship means everything to me. I’m extremely excited and honestly emotional, especially being the oldest sibling in my family. This is a huge step for me, but for everyone who has supported me along the way. I’m ready for a new home, new challenges and the chance to prove I belong here,” Reyes said.
Anthony Vasquez, a football safety, signed his letter of intent with Sul Ross State University, where he plans to study civil engineering. He was named to the 1st Team All-District in 2025 and 2026 and earned a spot on the All-State Academic Team. He currently has a 3.7 GPA.
“I wouldn’t be who I am without the people who push me,” Vasquez said.
Diego Ramirez, a wrestler, signed his letter of intent with Whitewater University, where he plans to study human performance. Ramirez is a two-time district champion and one-time state qualifier. He finished third at regionals in 2025-2026 and fifth in 2023-2024. Additionally, he is a varsity orchestra member with a 3.9 GPA.
Gabriel Rodriguez, a wrestler, signed his letter of intent with Neosho County Community College, where he plans to study sports medicine. Rodriguez is a two-time district champion, four-time regional qualifier and one-time state qualifier.
“Blessed and excited for this next chapter. Thankful for everyone who helped me get here,” Rodriguez said.
Aiden Acosta, a baseball pitcher, signed his letter of intent with Odessa College, where he plans to study criminal investigation. Acosta was a 2nd Team All-District pitcher in his sophomore year and a 1st Team All-District pitcher in his junior year.
“All the hard work paid off. Grateful for everyone who helped me get here; this is just the beginning,” Acosta said.
Matthew Ortega, a football safety, signed his letter of intent with Oklahoma Panhandle State University, where he plans to study criminal justice. Ortega has been named 1st Team All-District and 2nd Team All-District.
Julius Castro, a football safety, signed his letter of intent with Norwich University, where he plans to study business management. Castro is a Second-Team All-District player. He graduated with his associate degree from El Paso Community College through Pebble Hills Early College High School in December.
“I want to thank God and my family for all the support they gave me,” Castro said.
Jazlyn Corona, a soccer midfielder, signed her letter of intent with Park University, where she plans to study criminal justice. Corona is an All-District athlete and earned an Honorable Mention.
“I could never imagine that I would be blessed with such an amazing opportunity to continue writing my soccer career at the college level. My dreams are coming true; this is a new beginning for me, and I’m just getting started,” Corona said.
Megan Mukiibi, a soccer striker, signed her letter of intent with Eastern New Mexico University, where she plans to study psychology. Mukiibi is an All-District Athlete and is a 1st Team player for the 2025-2026 season. Her academic achievements include being on the A Honor Roll with a 97.7 GPA.
Nadia Soto, a soccer midfielder, signed her letter of intent with Northwest Arkansas Community College, where she plans to study nursing. Soto earned 1st Team All-District honors her junior and sophomore years, was 2nd Team All-District her freshman year and received an El Paso Times All-City honorable mention in 2024-2025. Academically, she is in the biomed program with a 94.3 GPA and is on the A-B Honor Roll.
“Playing college ball is a dream come true. I am incredibly grateful for every opportunity, every coach who believed in me, and every challenge that got me here,” Soto said.
Peyton Hart, a soccer central defender/center back, signed her letter of intent with Dallas Baptist University, where she plans to study computer science. Hart earned 1st Team All-District honors. She graduated with her associate degree from El Paso Community College through Pebble Hills Early College High School.
“I would like to thank my friends and family for always supporting me through all the ups and downs when I needed it most and the people that push me the hardest: Coach Derrick, Coach Adrian, Coach Alex, Coach Cindy, Coach Alexis, Coach Lopez and Coach Garcia. To my teammates, thank you for all the amazing memories, the road trips and all the laughs I will never forget ya‘ll. Also, I would like to thank Coach Bankhead and Coach Wills for giving me the opportunity to play at the next level. Lastly, to my parents, I would like to thank you for all the money and mental energy you have invested into me: my mom working all day to late nights, my dad missing work just to bring me something that I need and my step-mom coming into my life and helping me with everything, including my mental health. And, most importantly, I want to thank God for guiding me through my whole journey.”
Oziel Lozano, a soccer midfielder, signed his letter of intent with Southwestern University, where he plans to study business. Lozano has received several accolades, including being named to the 1st Team All District and earning Honorable Mentions. He has made two appearances in the Sweet Sixteen, won three Bi-District Championships, one Regional Quarter Final Championship, and one District Championship. Additionally, he has a 3.9 GPA.
“I’m proud to sign with Southwestern University and continue playing the sport I love at the next level. Thank you to my family, coaches, teammates, and everyone at Pebble Hills for helping me get here. I’m excited for what’s next,” Lozano said.
Devante Marquette Ware, track and field, thrower and hurdles, signed his letter of intent with Northwestern Oklahoma State, where he plans to study radiology pre-medical. Ware was a two-time USA Track & Field national qualifier and one-time USA Track & Field national finisher.
“I feel happy and excited to continue my track and field career. I want to thank my family and coaches,” Ware said.
Erick Izaiah Gutierrez Estrada, track and field and cross country, signed his letter of intent with El Paso Community College, where he plans to study engineering. Estrada is a a 1-6A District Second Team member, received Academic All-District honors, and has been awarded both the MVP and Most Improved Runner awards.
“Thanks to my family, friends, the boosters, God, and my training partner, Anthony Von,” Estrada said.
Christian Morales, track and cross country, signed his letter of intent with Lubbock Christian University, where he plans to study pre-engineering. Morales is a district and area qualifier and has been on the varsity team all four years.
“Thanks to my parents for giving me the opportunity and my coaches for showing me my full potential,” Morales said.
Narvid Jno-Pierre, track and field, signed his letter of intent with Ranger College, where he plans to study mechanical engineering.
Socorro High School
Leilene Cardoza, a softball shortstop, signed her letter of intent with the University of the Cumberlands, where she plans to study nursing. Cardoza earned 1st Team All-District honors twice and 2nd Team All-District honors. She has also received 1-6A All-Academic recognition. Her academic accomplishments include membership in the National Technical Honor Society. She is expected to earn her associate degree in multidisciplinary studies this spring.
“My support system is amazing. They’re always there supporting me; the loudest cheerleaders out there. It’s a blessing. Not everyone is allowed to have this moment. I’m happy,” Cardoza said.
Mia Dominguez, a softball catcher, signed her letter of intent with the University of the Cumberlands, where she plans to study criminal justice. Dominguez has been named to the 1st Team All-District three times and to the 1st Team All-City. Additionally, she is a member of the 1-6A All-Academic Team and has earned a Revit Architecture certificate.
“I want to thank the softball seniors for the best four years of my life. We had our ups and downs, but softball always brought us back together. Thank you for being the sisters I never had,” Dominguez said.
Cassidy Escobedo, a softball third baseman and catcher, signed her letter of intent with El Paso Community College, where she plans to study psychology. Escobedo was named to the 2nd Team All-District twice. Additionally, she has earned a Level 2 Security Officer certificate in Federal Law Enforcement Protection Services.
“First, I’d like to thank God for giving me and my teammates this beautiful opportunity, especially experiencing it all together. I’m so blessed that God has surrounded me with such amazing people,” Escobedo said.
Jaslyn Gardea, a softball center fielder, signed her letter of intent with Eastern Arizona College, where she plans to study physical therapy. Gardea has been named to the 1st Team All-District three times. Additionally, her accomplishments include being named to the 1st Team All-City, earning Honorable Mention All-State and being named to the 1-6A All-Academic Team for four years.
“This is like a moment I’ve been waiting for forever, and I’m so grateful for everyone that came and everyone that’s been supporting me,” Gardea said.
Kaylah Lares, a softball left fielder, signed her letter of intent with Frank Phillips College, where she plans to study business administration. Lares’s accolades include being named to the 1st Team All-District and receiving Honorable Mention All-District twice. Additionally, she has earned a Level 2 Security Officer certificate in Federal Law Enforcement Protection Services.
“To my Socorro softball family, I want to thank each of you, girls. This team isn’t just great, it’s one of the funniest, most unforgettable teams I've met,” Lares said.
Danielle Lozoya, a softball first baseman and pitcher, signed her letter of intent with Texas A&M International University, where she plans to study criminology. Lozoya's achievements include being named First Team All-District twice, First Team All-City and Third Team All-State. She is also a member of the 1-6A All-Academic Team and ranks in the top six percent of her class. She also earned an associate degree in multidisciplinary studies.
“There are so many people who deserve thanks, and no amount of words could fully measure the gratitude that I carry in my heart at this moment,” Lozoya said.
Haley Rodriguez, a softball pitcher, signed her letter of intent with Odessa College, where she plans to study radiology. Rodriguez's accolades include being named 1st Team All-District twice, 1st Team All-City, Honorable Mention All-District and 3rd Team All-State.
“I want to thank Coach Hamilton and Coach Eastman for allowing me to continue my academic and athletic career at Odessa College. Thank you to all the coaches that have helped me through my softball journey,” Rodriguez said.
